Brian Regan, a comedians' comedian, goes for laughs at the Tivoli

The guy Jerry Seinfeld and Jimmy Fallon both list among their favorite comedians is coming to town.

Brian Regan’s national theater tour stops in the Tivoli Theatre, 709 Broad St., on Sunday, April 23, for a 7 p.m. show.

You might have caught him March 28 when he was a guest on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.” During his bit, he joked about everything from why he’d never be president (being awakened every morning by an aide whispering “Problems”) to having Kim Jong Un as a Facebook friend.

He was recently featured in Seinfeld’s web series, “Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee.” Regan made 28 appearances on “Late Show With David Letterman,” the most of any comic before Letterman retired from the CBS show.

His one-hour TV special, “Brian Regan: Live from Radio City Music Hall,” made history as the first live broadcast of a stand-up special in Comedy Central’s history.

Regan has worked the stand-up circuit for more than 20 years. He uses observational, sarcastic and self- deprecating humor to discuss everyday events. His performances are clean and free of profanity, relying on body language and facial expressions to emphasize punchlines.

As Chris Rock put it: “No comedian in the world says, ‘ Yeah, I want to follow Brian Regan.’”

Tickets for the Tivoli show are $43 plus fees.
