WHO’S TOP TOMATO?
Bloody Mary contest Sunday at Chattanooga Market
Easy to grow and yielding an abundant harvest, tomatoes are stars of summer gardens.
Chattanooga Market will celebrate this favorite summer crop at its Top Tomato Festival on Sunday, July 23, at First Tennessee Pavilion when Tito’s Vodka sponsors a Bloody Mary sampling.
Marketgoers can choose from spicy, tangy or nonalcoholic drinks created by five competing mixologists. Taste five samples for a $ 10 ticket or one sample for $3.
Competing will be Southside Social, back to defend its 2016 title, along with Bitter Alibi, The Fix, Frothy Monkey and Stir.
Only visitors who buy the $10 ticket will be eligible to vote in the People’s Choice contest. All proceeds will benefit the Finley Foundation, which supports Finley Stadium.
While market shoppers cool down and chill out with a Bloody Mary, they will be entertained by local singer-songwriter Dana Rogers at 12:30 p.m. and folk/Americana duo Rye Baby at 2 p.m.
