Two-day Home Education Expo at Camp Jordan

More than 70 exhibitors displaying a broad variety of educationa­l materials will be on hand Friday-Saturday, July 21-22, in Camp Jordan Arena, 323 Camp Jordan Parkway in East Ridge.

Chattanoog­a Southeast Tennessee Home Education Associatio­n is hosting its annual Curriculum Fair and Home Education Expo with more than 40 workshops, education resources and experts on hand to answer questions from how to start home schooling to financial aid for college. The expo is not just for home-schooling parents, but also families who are looking for enrichment materials to supplement school courses.

Expo hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $8 per family for both days.

Twenty- eight workshops are scheduled Friday beginning at 9: 30 a. m. with the last starting at 5 p. m. Four workshops run simultaneo­usly during seven scheduled time periods throughout the day.

Among Friday’s topics are how to start home schooling, preparing middle-schoolers for high school, STEM subjects, financial aid and transcript advice, career tech courses for homeschool students and legal and legislativ­e issues.

Sixteen workshops ( again four at a time from which to choose) are scheduled Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the last starting at 1:15 p.m.

Topics include spelling success, teaching the way kids learn, college admissions informatio­n, teaching a special-needs child and “Test is not a four-letter word.”
