Ball Brothers headline concert at Camp Jordan Arena
The Ball Brothers, a Chickamauga, Ga., quartet whose song “It’s About the Cross” hit No. 1 on the iTunes Christian Chart, will headline a gospel singing in Camp Jordan Arena on Saturday night, July 29.
“Hometown Singing at the Camp” starts at 6 p.m. In addition to the Ball Brothers, the concert will include performances by Master Peace, The Hullender Family and The Greesons.
Stump Martin, Parks and Recreation director for the city of East Ridge, says this is the first big gospel show to be held at the East Ridge park in five years.
“It’s a partnership with Tommy Youngblood with WDEF. He was looking for a place to do some gospel shows. I was looking for an opportunity on the 29th to have some type of musical concert for the city. It worked out for us to partner. It gives us an opportunity to do something for the East Ridge Needy Child Fund,” Martin says. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit that children’s Christmas fund.
“We have so much gospel talent in this area that I felt like it was something we needed to try,” Martin says
The Ball Brothers are brothers Andrew and Daniel Ball along with their brother-in-law, Chad McCloskey, and Matt Davis. Since forming in 2006, the quartet has made its mark in Christian music by finding a musical balance between old and new styles.
“We’ve never been to a place where every person in the audience was the same age. On the contrary, most places we go have a mixture of young, mid- dle-age and older people. So, our music style and song selection is based around that blend..It’s great to see a grandmother and granddaughter worshiping together and enjoying the same music. We get to see that on a regular basis,” says lead vocalist Daniel Ball in a news release.
The quartet was nominated this year by Absolutely Gospel Music Association for its 2017 Album of the Year and Male Group of the Year awards, winning the latter.
Their hit song, “It’s About the Cross,” climbed to No. 1 on the iTunes Christian Chart, and its video has been viewed online more than 20 million times. The album containing that track, “Breakthrough,” made the Top 5 on iTunes Christian album chart.
The group has appeared in the Gaither Homecoming video series and performed on the main stage of the National Quartet Convention.
Tickets are $10 in advance and may be purchased at Camp Jordan Arena box office or Christian Sonshine Bookstore, 1841 Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe. They are $15 the day of the show.
