Ocoee Theatre opens generational comedy

‘Over the River and Through the Woods’ presented in five shows

- STAFF REPORT

“Over the River and Through the Woods,” a stage comedy with laughout-loud humor and sentimental family values, opens Saturday, Sept. 9, presented by Ocoee Theatre in Cleveland, Tenn. Five performances will be held at The Venue Creekside, 527 W. Inman St. in Cleveland.

Nick Cristano is a young, single marketing executive from New Jersey who routinely visits his two sets of grandparents every Sunday for family dinner, since his parents escaped this quirky family by retiring and moving to Florida.

Nick’s grandparents bombard him with family traditions and lots of food. When Nick suddenly announces that he is being promoted and moving to Seattle, his devastated grandparents concoct a series of hilarious schemes to keep him from leaving, including a search for the woman of Nick’s dreams.

As the story unfolds, Nick must deal with the dilemma of balancing a career with the strong bonds that bring him every Sunday to this household filled with overflowing love.

Will Nick break out and fend for himself? See how Nick handles this sticky family situation.

Performances are scheduled Sept. 9, 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m., with 2:30 p.m. matinees on Sept. 10 and 17.

Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 for students.
