Chattanoog­a is the site of the 11th race in the Ironman U.S. Series when the Little Debbie Ironman is held Sunday, Sept. 24, presented by McKee Bakery.

The course takes advantage of the Scenic City’s dramatic landscape.

Little Debbie Ironman Chattanoog­a will begin with a point-to-point, 2.4mile swim in the Tennessee River.

The 116- mile bike course will head south of town for 11 miles before making two loops in North Georgia with scenic farmland and mountain views.

The course for the two-and-a-half loop, 26.2- mile run will showcase downtown, Riverview and the North Shore neighborho­ods.

Events for athletes begin today, Sept. 21, with check-in at 9 a.m., lasting until VIP spectator credential pickup at 5 p.m.

Opening ceremony is Friday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. at Ross’s Landing.

Saturday, Sept. 23, kicks off with UnitedHeal­thcare Ironkids Chattanoog­a Fun Run at Ross’s Landing at 9 a.m. WHERE TO WATCH

Swim: This leg of the triathlon offers spectators the opportunit­y to walk along the swim course and watch t he entire swim from the Chattanoog­a Riverwalk, which runs parallel to the watery course.

Bike: Free shuttles will run from the transition area at Ross’s Landing down to Chickamaug­a, Ga., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Run: The run will offer plenty of viewing areas on its two- l oop course. For those who want to relax at the transition area, Ross’s Landing offers a greenspace and several water features.

A quick walk up Riverfront Parkway will take spectators to an area where a t hl etes come t hrough to start t heir second lap. The Walnut Street Bridge is another viewing point that will most likely be lined with spectators.

Follow that walking bridge across the river to the North Shore, and Frazier Avenue offers a variety of eateries and eclectic shops where spectators can grab a bite to eat or drink while cheering on their athletes. HOW TO TRACK YOUR ATHLETE
