New Haunted Hilltop scares will get your heart pumping

Jeff Chambers is launching a new Valentine’s event that will make other haunted house owners eat their hearts out.

In November, after the close of his successful Haunted Hilltop Halloween, Chambers came up with the idea of My Bloody Valentine — a Valentine’s-themed haunted house to make your blood run cold. Turns out, it’s a thing. “I’m in a worldwide group of owners of haunted houses. I asked if any of them had done this,” he says. “Several of the larger haunted houses around the world do it and do a big business.”

So Chambers is opening the first Bloody Valentine at the Haunted Hilltop on Friday and Saturday nights, Feb. 16-17.

And it’s certainly not a half-hearted effort.

“We started on it as soon as we took the Christmas lights down. We’ve added more parking, new props. It’s over 100,000 square feet of haunted terror with a special Valentine’s theme,” he says.

Just like the Haunted Hilltop, there will be a haunted house, haunted hayride, bonfire with hot chocolate and fresh doughnuts at the concession stand — only with a love-gone-wrong spin.

“If people go out and eat a nice meal for Valentine’s Day, they’ll pay more for that than they would to come to the Haunted Hilltop,” he says.

Chambers says My Bloody Valentine will open Friday and Saturday nights, but there is a possi- bility of rain Friday, which will prevent the event from occurring. He says any decision to close or delay hours will be posted immediately on Haunted Hilltop’s Facebook page, so visitors are encouraged to check there before driving to Harrison.
