The family that plays together ...

The Sneary Family Band is next up in Dalton series

- STAFF REPORT

The Sneary Family Band will perform the next show in the Creative Arts Guild’s “In Concert Series: A Collection of Roots Music.”

The concert is set for 7 p.m. Friday, April 20, in the Guild’s Jonas Hall, 20 W. Waugh St. in Dalton, Ga.

The Sneary Family Band brings energy to a range of covers spanning several genres — from classic rock to bluegrass and soul to modern hits.

Although t hey only recently came together to perform, members Lauren, Emerson, Jim and Kevin Sneary have been playing together informally at family gatherings for as long as they can remember — which for brothers Jim and Kevin means more than 50 years.

Alternating between guitar and percussion, Lauren and Emerson Sneary provide lead vocals, their harmonies enriched by that unique blend that siblings often have. Debbie Sneary, band manager and singer, supplies backup vocals and percussion. Singer Olivia Barbour steps in on several duets, and Jim Sneary alter- nates between keyboard, harmonica and percussion.

Kevin Sneary, the veteran performer of the group, has played with several bands in Chattanooga and Greenville, S.C., and currently plays bass for the Stratoblasters. The family has music in its bones and a positive vibe that gives the band a spirit of unity and warmth.

Admission is $10 adults, $8 senior adults and students with valid ID, free for children 5 and younger. Beverages will be available.
