Q ‘n’ Brew at the Zoo

Where can you f ind barbecue, beer, bluegrass, a bobcat and Black-Crested Mangabey monkey all within walking distance of each other?

At Chattanoog­a Zoo’s Q ‘n’ Brew, the annual barbecue and beer-tasting fundraiser for the zoo, located at 301 N. Holtzclaw Ave. The party is from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 21.

All ages of the family can come and taste some of the best barbecue the city has to offer while enjoying the zoo. Q ‘ n’ Brew is the zoo’s most-relaxed fundraisin­g event — no live auctions or fancy attire, j ust good food, music and fun.

Slim Pickins, a f ivepiece bluegrass band, will entertain with its lively, fast-paced show. The band features John Boulware, 2006 Tennessee State Fiddle Champion, leading a group of up- and- coming hot shots.

New t his year: doit-yourself tie-dyed T-shirts that can be made at tie-dye stations led by zoo staff. Add a shirt to your cart when purchasing tickets.

Tickets are $ 16 adults, $8 children for zoo member f amilies; $ 20 per adult, $ 10 children nonmembers. An additional $5 will be added to ticket prices the day of the event.

Tickets i nclude zoo admission, two beverage tickets, animal encounters and signature cup. Barbecue plates may be purchased from a vendor. Additional glasses of beer or wine are $3 each, soda $2 each, water $1 each.
