Songbirds host An Evening with Sister Hazel. WEDNESDAY

Songbirds’ talent buyer Mike Dougher explains why these bands are not to be missed

- STAFF REPORT

ALEX WILLIAMS BAND

› Where: Songbirds North › When: 7 p.m. Friday, July 27 › Admission: $12 “When we did the Steel Woods show a couple of months ago, many people in the sold-out crowd mentioned Alex Williams. The bands are similar in the outlaw country kind of way. It seemed like a good idea to bring in what the customers were asking for, and I get to see a new great band.”

MILELE ROOTS

› Where: Songbirds South › When: 9 p.m. Friday, July 27 › Admission: $10 “I’ve probably done 50 shows with Milele Roots and they’ve always been a quality act. You can’t help but smile and dance the night away when Milele starts grooving with that great reggae sound.”

THE POOL: BRITISH INVASION ROCK ‘N’ ROLL 29TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT

› Where: Songbirds North › When: 9 p.m. Saturday, July 28 ›

Admission: $12 “This show celebrates The Pool’s 29th anniversary as a band. The band members love the British Invasion sound and that’s what they’re about — The Stones, The Beatles, The Who, all the classic hits from the ’60s British sound. The concert happens in Songbirds North surrounded by our vintage guitar collection that includes instruments of that period. It’s hard to ask for more.”

The band features David Cromwell on guitar, Michael Welch on vocals and guitar, Nick Honerkamp on bass and vocals and Monte Coulter on drums. For this anni- versary show, Coulter will also play clarinet and keyboards, and special guest Tommy Lifsey will play drums when that happens.

OUTLAW 45 WITH JOSHUA BEARDEN: A NIGHT OF CLASSIC COUNTRY

› Where: Songbirds South › When: 9 p.m. Saturday, July 28 › Admission: $10 “Outlaw 45 volunteered immediately to play at a charity event for a young girl with severe medical problems at Songbirds South. Their willingness to help was not lost on me. Onstage, they put on a terrific show of classic country songs and I thought, ‘More people need to hear these guys.’ People love country music done well.”

AN EVENING WITH SISTER HAZEL

› Where: Songbirds South › When: 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 › Admission: $20 in advance, $22 day of show

Here’s just the band to help you get over hump day.

“One of the great bands over the last 20 years, I look for any opportunity to have these guys play. The live show is just so much fun, a show in which the crowd is constantly singing along. It’s hard not to have an awesome time at a Sister Hazel show.”

Expect to party to new music from “Water,” the EP released in February. It’s the first in a series of EPs that Sister Hazel will theme to elements.
