Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps stops in Red Bank today

The sound of brass and drums will echo across the Morrison Springs Road area today and Friday, July 26- 27, when the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps makes an overnight stop at Red Bank High School, 640 Morrison Springs Road.

The 154 youth in the Cadets, ages 16- 22, will travel more than 14,000 miles this summer as they entertain drum corps fans in shows across the nation. Along the way, the teens often spend nights in high school gyms, showering in locker rooms, to help save on travel expenses. The drum and bugle corps is stopping in Red Bank on its way to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to participate in the Masters of Summer Music Games on Friday at Middle Tennessee State University.

Josh Clements, spokesman for the Cadets, says their rehearsals are open to the public to watch at no charge as the musicians perfect their sound and precision drill.

Clements says this season’s show is themed “The Unity Project.” Music includes “Opening Scene” by Drew Shanefield, Tom Aungst and Omar Car- menates; “Sensemaya” by Silvestre Revueltas; “Misterioso” by Drew Shanefield; “Demonic Thesis” by John Psathas; “Ara Batur” by Sigur Ros; and “Ballet Sacra” by David Holsinger.

The Cadets, a program of Youth Education in the Arts, is one of the 13 founding corps of Drum Corps International. It is a 10-time DCI World Champion and the oldest continuously active junior drum and bugle corps in North America.
