CSO concert features Eric Anderson
The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will feature Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 in its first chamber concert of this season on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m. The concert will be held in the auditorium of the Humanities Building on the campus of Chattanooga State Community College, 4501 Amnicola Highway
Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 is comprised of four movements f illed with light instrumentation that may remind the audience of symphonies by Joseph Haydn, with whom Beethoven studied before composing this work.
The concert will also include Kenneth Frazelle’s “Laconic Variation” and Villa Lobos’ “Ciranda das Sete Notas,” featuring CSO musician Eric Anderson on the bassoon solo.
“I am truly excited to be conducting Kenneth Frazelle’s ‘Laconic Variation,’ as this is my first experience studying his music,” says CSO Music Director and Conductor Kayoko Dan.
“This work is very colorful, i ntricate and innovative, and it will be a perfect opener for our chamber concert. Through Frazelle’s piece, I am also looking forward to highlighting many of my musicians and their skills.”
Following the concert, ticketholders are invited to a post-concert talk with the conductor and Anderson.
Tickets are $ 28 with discounts for students and music educators available.
