Six concerts open to the community will take place on area university campuses in the coming week.

TODAY, OCT. 18

Yuman Lee, baritone, and Jerico Vasquez, pianist, perform Franz Schubert’s song cycle “Winterreise.” The musicians are colleagues at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia.

SATURDAY, OCT. 20

› What: Chamber Music Recital

“From Bach to Bolling” features performers Rebecca St. Goar, Monte Coulter, Ronda Ford, David Walters, Gigi Walters, Michael McCallie, Nicholas Hartline and Jay Stanfill.

TUESDAY, OCT. 23

› What: Tlen Huicani

› Where: Southern Adventist University, Ackerman Auditorium in Mable Wood Hall

Tlen Huicani presents the musical heritage of Veracruz, Mexico. Tlen Huicani is a Nahuatl word from the Aztec culture that means “the singers.” The group’s performance features a traditional folk harp representative of Veracruz.

› What: Symphonic Band Concert

› Where: Chattanooga State Community College, Humanities Building, 4501 Amnicola Highway

Chattanooga State’s symphonic band, under the director of Nicholas Hartline, performs music from movies and video games. The concert will feature flute soloist Alexus Murfin and include students from STEM School of Chattanooga and Hamilton County at Chattanooga State Collegiate High School.
