Celtic Thunder X celebrates decade of Irish music

- STAFF REPORT

Celtic Thunder debuted in Dublin in summer 2007, but it wasn’t until their first public television special in 2008 that they launched a brand that would become a worldwide phenomenon.

To celebrate a decade of Celtic Thunder, the ensemble is touring with a new show, Celtic Thunder X, which includes a mix of traditional and contemporary Irish music. The shows are known for dramatic effects via lighting and choreography as well as realistic Irish stage sets with authentic Irish instruments.

Celtic Thunder X rolls into the Tivoli Theatre on Monday, Dec. 10, for a 7:30 p.m. show.

Singers D a mi a n McGinty, Ryan Kelly, Mi c h a e l O ’ D wye r , Emmet Cahill and Neil Byrne will be backed by the Celtic Thunder Band to perform solo and ensemble numbers. The program will include “Sons of Light,” “Toora, Loora, Lay,” “The Wild Rover,” “Right All Right” and “Castle on the Hill.”

Their second act will be filled with nostalgic, fun songs such as “Celebration,” “I’m a Believer,” “Seasons in the Sun” and “Rise Again.” No Celtic Thunder show would be complete without an encore of their rousing anthem “Ireland’s Call,” the only song in Celtic Thunder X that isn’t a new song, but which never fails to bring the audience to its feet.

Celtic Thunder has been hailed as Billboard’s Top World Music Artist, Album and Imprint of 2008, 2009, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Celtic Thunder has achieved sales of more than 2 million copies and their official YouTube channel, “Thunder Tube,” has seen over 78 million upload views in 10 years.
