AirPower History Tour landing at Lovell Field

Iconic Boeing B-29 Superfortress “Fifi” and Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Diamond Lil” are landing at Lovell Field on Monday, May 20, as part of the Commemorative Air Force AirPower History Tour.

The pair of bombers will be joined by a P-51 Mustang, C-45 Expeditor, T-6 Texan, PT-13 Stearman and T-34 Mentor. The aircraft will be located at Wilson Air Center FBO ramp, Lovell Field Airport, 932 Jubilee Drive.

The aircrafts’ arrival brings the sights, sounds and stories of World War II aviation to town. Visitors will be able to view all aircraft up close, purchase rides in all attending aircraft and tour the B-29 and B-24 cockpits when the aircraft are not flying.

Although the planes will arrive Monday, the event opens to the public Wednesday, May 22, through Sunday, May 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The supporting aircraft will offer rides all five days. The B-29 flies Saturday and Sunday at 9 and 10:30 a.m. The B-24 flies Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 and 11 a.m. Cockpit tours of both will be begin at 9 a.m., except on Saturday and Sunday, when they will begin at noon.

Access to the ramp is $15 adults, $8 for youth ages 10 through 17. Children under age 9 are free.

Rides range from $85 to $1,999, depending on aircraft type. Rides may be booked in advance at AirPowerTour. org. Riders must be at least 12 years of age and able to climb in and out of the aircraft on their own.

Through more than six decades of collecting and flying World War II aircraft, the Commemorative Air Force has become the world’s largest flying museum. Its fleet of over 170 World War II airplanes is assigned to unit locations across the U.S. and supported by 12,000 volunteer members.
