Pasture Prime launches this weekend

There’s a new craft show/gift market launching this weekend by an entrepreneurial mother-daughter duo that you might want to check out.

Pasture Prime Pickin’ takes its name from the fact there will be prime pickings up for grabs in an East Brainerd pasture. Yes, you read that right — this craft show on Friday and Saturday is being held in a field.

Shoppers who have patronized Galleries on the Southside, The Galleries on Williams Street or the Chattanooga Mercantile will recognize the names of Susan Fitch and her daughter, Carrie Fitch Hatmaker. Susie sells antiques and home decor under the Heartstrings name; Carrie’s company is The Treehouse, which carries all sorts of children’s items and clothing.

The pair have gathered about 40 of their friends to be vendors in this outdoor show at Susie’s East Brainerd home.

“The vendors are from all over. Some we know from the antiques world, some we’ve met on the World’s Longest Yard Sale,” says Carrie.

“They’ll have wreaths, garlands and other holiday decorations, antique clothing, seasonal apparel, jewelry, gourmet foods, decorated cookies and cakes, gift items and one man is coming who makes cedar swings and rockers. Cotton and Paint’s owner hand-paints pillows with holiday and local scenes.”

Dolly’s Smokehouse food truck will also be on-site for guests to buy lunch.

The Fitches hope to make Pasture Prime a biannual event; a spring show is already planned for May 1-2, 2020.

Carrie says the $5 ticket is good for both sale days. The show will be held rain or shine.

Directions to 414 White Road: Exit I-75 at East Brainerd Road, heading east on East Brainerd Road. You will pass Food City, Hurricane Creek subdivision, Banks Road and Rolling Ridge subdivision. Turn right onto Fuller Road. Then take an immediate left onto White Road. Follow signs to the event site.

Note: There are two Fuller Road intersections with East Brainerd Road. The first is just past Hurricane Creek subdivision. Do not turn there. Continue on East Brainerd Road just over one mile to the second Fuller Road intersection on the right. If you pass Westview Elementary School, you’ve gone too far.
