Ehnes Quartet plays Beethoven at next String Theory

- STAFF REPORT

Founded in 2009 by pianist and Artistic Director Gloria Chien, String Theory brings acclaimed chamber musicians from around the world to perform in the intimate setting of the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga.

String Theory will continue its 10th season with the Ehnes Quartet on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The quartet is comprised of four internationally known artists: Edward Arron, cello; James Ehnes, violin; Amy Schwartz Moretti, violin; and Richard O’Neill, viola. In honor of Beethoven’s 250th anniversary, they will perform Beethoven’s string quartets in F and B-flat.

The quartet’s highly refined and expressive performances have delighted audiences and critics across Asia, Europe and North America, and have made them one of the most sought-after chamber groups performing today.

Prior to the Tuesday concert, String Theory will present Art Connections and Musical Dialogues.

Art Connections gives String Theory attendees the opportunity to visit the Hunter Museum galleries and hear former Hunter Museum Chief Curator Ellen Simak and Maestro Robert Bernhardt discuss works from the Hunter collection that relate to music featured in the evening’s concert. Art Connections will take place at 5:30 p.m.

Individual concert tickets are $35 for Hunter members, $45 for nonmembers, $10 for students with a valid student ID, and $25 for groups of 20 or more. Season subscriptions are available for $175 for Hunter members and $225 for non-members.
