O’Neal, Rector pace Lady Crusaders

The Tennessee Temple University women’s basketball team pulled out its second victory of the season and the second in as many nights Friday against Trinity Baptist, 74- 63, as TaQuasha O’Neal and Amanda Rector scored 17 and 16 points and Jess Salera and Shakoya Monroe had 13 and nine rebounds with 12 points apiece.

Rector added eight rebounds and O’Neal had five assists for Temple ( 2- 6). Myeasha Williams had 17 points, seven rebounds and three steals for Trinity (1-7).

The Temple men also were scheduled to play Trinity Baptist, but that game was canceled. The Crusaders had capped a doublehead­er sweep Thursday night at Fisk with a 100-78 win and now are 6-3.

Crown 79, Covenant 77: At Saint Bonifacius, Minn., Colton McGriff had a team- high 21 points for Covenant ( 3- 4) but missed all three free throws after being fouled on a long 3- point try with 0.8 second left, after Crown’s Bryce Williams made a go- ahead layup with 5.2 to go for the last of his 24 points. He also had four steals and four assists. Chris Boyd had 14 points and eight rebounds and Nate Frierson had five assists in defeat.

Southern Wesleyan 62, Bryan 56: At Dayton in the Bryan Classic, the hosts fell despite a 14- point lead in the first half and 32 points and 18 rebounds by Brandon Cole. Robert Troino scored 14 points with four 3s for the Lions ( 3- 8). Cameron Solomon had 30 points and Dwayne Bryant grabbed 15 rebounds for SWU.

Tennessee Wesleyan 80, Southern Polytechni­c 78: Also in the Bryan College Classic, the Bulldogs rose to 7-5 overall as Shannon Smith scored 20 points and Andrew Scofield added 16 while Devante’ Jenkins and Derek Turnipseed scored 12 points apiece with, respective­ly, 16 rebounds amd eight assists.
