Police searching for alleged credit card thief

Police are searching for a woman who allegedly used a stolen credit card to buy more than $1,700 in merchandis­e at a Dalton store.

The victim said on July 1 she was at Panera Bread on Walnut Avenue when her wallet was taken from her purse, according to a release from the police department.

She said her large purse was hanging on the back of her chair, hanging open.

At some point, the purse fell onto the floor and the victim told police she realized her wallet was missing when she walked out and felt her purse was lighter.

She told police the wallet had approximat­ely $300 in cash, as well as her driver’s license, a pharmacy license and credit cards.

That same day, one of the credit cards was used at the Walnut Avenue Kroger and Walgreen’s locations to buy more than $1,700 in merchandis­e including three $400 prepaid Visa cards.

The suspect was caught on video and is a black woman with long black hair.
