Buddy Jewell in concert in Crossville

Buddy Jewell, the Arkansas native who won the inaugural season of “Nashville Star” in 2003 (the year Miranda Lambert came in third), will be in concert tonight, July 28, at the Palace Theatre, 72 S. Main St. in Crossville, Tenn. The J.C. Anderson Band and Briana Tyson will open the show at 7 p.m. CDT. Jewell’s resume also includes winning Male Vocalist on several episodes of “Star Search”; opening for Alabama after winning a singing competitio­n sponsored by the band; and recording more than 5,000 tracks during two years as a demo singer in Nashville. His post-“Nashville Star” hits include “Help Pour Out the Rain (Lacey’s Song)” and “Sweet Southern Comfort.” His latest album, “My Father’s Country,” features songs he grew up hearing his father sing.
