Cave Spring Motorcycle Rally this weekend
That sound you hear in Floyd County, Ga., this weekend is Southern rock music and revving motorcycles.
The fourth annual Cave Spring Motorcycle Rally and Music Festival takes place Friday and Saturday, July 29-30. The rally site is three miles north of town on Highway 411. Proceeds benefit the Cave Spring Downtown Development Authority.
Several area bands are set to perform. Headlining Friday night is the Jeff Rogers Band, with The Band Stringfield and Taylor Cromer & The Delta opening the show. Saturday promises a Champagne Jam featuring Andy Anderson, former vocalist
for Atlanta Rhythm Section, and special guest Artimus Pyle, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer from Lynyrd Skynyrd. Whiskey Dixie and South of Heaven will open.
Saturday also includes a morning poker run and afternoon bike show. A women’s Boots & Dukes contest Saturday evening will crown winners in three age divisions. The Christian Motorcyclists Association will conduct a biker church service Sunday morning. A General Lee show car from “Dukes of Hazzard” fame will be on-site for viewing.
Food and merchandise vendors will be set up throughout the weekend, but organizers announced a BYOB policy earlier this week. A Facebook post says the beer vendor missed the permit deadline to pour at the rally, so those attending must bring their own.
