HAMILTON COUNTY Rose K. Bowman
Rose K. Bowman, 80, of Chattanooga, went home to be with her Lord, on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016.
Rose was a member of White Oak Baptist Church and was the “Best Mom in the World”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hurley F. Bowman; parents, Harvey and Lula Bell Willis Keenum; siblings, Covel (Ann), Chester (Della), Bill (Virginia), and Floyd (Marie) Keenum, Irene (Theodore) Tippett, Mildred Phillips, and Jackie Keenum.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Rochelle (Ronnie) Bolton, and Allison Hixson; grandson, Brett (Jessie) Bolton; great-granddaughter, Brylee Bolton; constant companions, Pocket and Piper.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 15, 2016, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service for Rose will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, at the North Chapel, with Dr. Tony Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest by her late husband.

James Burkes Jr.
James Burkes, Jr. “Stoney B”, 80, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at his residence. He was a member of Avondale Church of Christ and retired from Mueller Company after many years of service. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Ophelia Burkes; parents, James and Nancy Burkes; brother, Robert Burkes.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Lee Burkes; sons, Henry (Keiawnca) Burkes, of Chattanooga, and James, Jr. (Melba) Burkes, of Cleveland, Tenn.; daughters, Nancy (Arthur) Maddox, Loretta Davis, Alfreda (Reginald) Wyatt, all of Chattanooga, and Darlene Burkes (Tony Westmoreland), of Jasper, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Shelber (Shirley) Burkes and Eddie Burkes, both of Chattanooga; sister, Betty (Phillip) Maddox, of Ringgold, Ga.; sisters and brother-in-law, Minnie Bell Cunningham, Rena Banks, Mary Ann Davenport, and Robert Zackery; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Friday at noon at Avondale Church of Christ, with Brother John R. Taylor, Sr. as the eulogist.

Florence Coleman
Florence Elizabeth Coleman, of Chattanooga, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at her residence.
She was a retired nurse, and worked locally in the Chattanooga area.
Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her late parents, Theodore Crook and Jippy Mae Tatum; husband, Robert Coleman; daughter, Marjorie Cargle; and sister, Addie Hurt.
She leaves to cherish her memory to her loving and devoted children, one son, Robert (Linda) Coleman, Chattanooga; three daughters, Barbara Dave, Pastor Sharon McWhorter, both of Chattanooga; and Ann Robinson (Michael), of Atlanta, Ga.; grandsons, Glenn Scruggs, Corey Robinson, Robert Coleman Jr., all of Chattanooga, and John H. McWhorter, of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; granddaughters, Denise Dave, Tonya Cargle, Tara Dave, all of Chattanooga, Erika Victory, of Houston, Texas, and Michell Robinson, of New York; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The body will lie in state, today, from noon until 7 p.m., at Advantage Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at Community M.B. Church, with Pastor Gerald Penn, officiating, located at 1001 E. 8th St. Chattanooga, TN 37403.
Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Ronnie Denham
Ronnie Eugene Denham, 59, of Chattanooga, passed from this life into eternity on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016.
In recent years he has been self-employed as a handyman with home improvement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Henry Denham and Joann Stokes Denham; and his brother, Richard C. Denham.
Survivors include his sister, Tammy Rogers, of Decatur, Tenn.; brother, Jimmy C. Denham, of Hixson; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Brenda Faust, passed away Sept. 4, 2016, at a local hospital.
She was born in Detroit, Mich.

Kenneth Martin
Kenneth Charles Martin, 74, of Hixson, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Margaret Martin; and a brother, Billy L. Martin.
He was a member and deacon for Abba’s House.
He was the Chairman of the Board for Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department and he served on the board for the North River YMCA.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Maxine Martin; son, Kenny Martin; sisters, Bernice Brock and Lillian (Bill) Ray.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with Pastor Ron Phillips officiating.

William Oliver Richard, 62, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at his residence.
He graduated from Riverside, served in the Navy, artist, friend and devout animal lover.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Richard and niece, Muriel Sammons.

Wilmary Rollins
Wilmary Frist Rollins, 84, Chattanooga, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, in a local healthcare center.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga , Ms. Rollins was a retired accounting book-keeper for many years having worked for several companies.
She had been a volunteer with Memorial Hospital and Senior Neighbors.
Ms. Rollins was an avid swimmer, tennis player, bad mitten player, enjoyed gardening and loved her many visits to Sanibel Beach, Fla.
She was a longtime member of Ridgedale Baptist Church.
Ms. Rollins was preceded in death by her son, Rick Rollins; parents, Jake and Sadie Frist; sisters, Evelyn Frist and Patricia Huguenin; and brothers, Jimmy and Frank Frist.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Susan (Bob) Dixon, Chattanooga, Kym (Tom) McKeehan, Chattanooga, Mona (Steve) Byer, Flintstone, Ga., Jimmy (Lisa) Frist, Flintstone , Ga., Sharon (Steve) Lynn, Marietta, Ga., and Mark (Kelly) Huguenin, Sanibel, Fla.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at Forest Hills Cemetery with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.

Wilburn Smith
Wilburn Cleveland Smith, 88, of Signal Mountain, died on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at Alexian Village. Bill was born on March 6, 1928, in Gainesville, Ga.
He joined the United States Marine Corp after he graduated high school and served during the last days of World War II.
He began working for General Electric in Atlanta after being discharged from the military.
He was a manager at GE and retired after 30 years. His assignments with GE led his family to reside in Birmingham, Ala., and Houston, Texas.
After he retired from General Electric, Bill and his wife, Katherine, moved to Signal Mountain, to be near their grandchildren and also family in the Atlanta area. Bill enjoyed playing Bridge and golf.
He and Katherine square danced while living in Houston.
He was an active member of Signal Crest United Methodist Church.
He and Katherine had several trips in the United States and abroad with other church members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his older son, Douglas Smith.
He was survived by his wife of 67 years, Emma Katherine Starr Smith.
He is also survived by his son, Gary D. (Dona) Smith M.D., of Signal Mountain; and his grandsons, Travis Smith, of Washington, D.C., Ross Smith, of Atlanta, Ga., and Hunter Smith, of Chattanooga.
The funeral will be held at Signal Crest Methodist Church on Signal Mountain on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at 2 p.m.
A private burial will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery, at a later date.

Jerry Whitworth
Jerry Dean Whitworth, 58, of Ooltewah, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 13, 2016.
A native of Spencer, Tenn., Jerry had lived in Whitwell, Tenn., for many years before moving to Chattanooga 20 years ago.
He was an avid motorcycle rider, loved hunting, fishing, dancing and was a Nascar Racing Fan.
Jerry was a member of Welchland Baptist Church in Spencer and was a dedicated employee of ADM for the past 38 years.
Jerry was a loving man and was adored by many. He had a charming smile and a welcoming handshake to everyone he met.
He is survived by his loving companion, Denise Mason; daughter, Miranda (Greg) Vandergriff, of Soddy Daisy; mother, Velma Mounger, of Spencer, Tenn.; father, Bennie (Brenda) Whitworth, of Dunlap, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Makayla and Madelyn Vandergriff; three sisters, Shirley (A.R.) Simmons, and Peggie (Randall) Blair, all of Spencer, Tenn., and Marilyn Potter (George Fowler), of Jamestown, Tenn.; Denise’s children, Kristin Grant and Mandy Parker, both of Augusta, Ga.; close friends, Bill McElhaney and Ronnie Gilliam; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

CLEVELAND — Karen Parker Fisher, 78, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016.

Mary Kimball
GALLATIN — Mary Bernadette Kimball, 22, a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, died unexpectedly of natural causes, at her home on Sept. 10, 2016.
Mary was born at the Monroe Maternity Center in Madisonville, Tenn., the daughter of Tom and Marie Kimball.
She was a graduate of Pope John Paul II High School and attended Asbury University and Vol State Community College.
She planned to begin nursing school later in the month.
Mary served as a volunteer supervisor for Catholic Mission groups this summer in Texas, Oklahoma, New Orleans, Belize and Harlan, Ky.
She previously spent a year as an intern for Stand Ture, a pro-life organization in Ohio.
Through her efforts, many children were saved from abortion.
She loved children and was a wonderful nanny and baby sitter for many families.
She stated in her diary her purpose in life was to return to her Heavenly home.
Survivors include her parents, Tom and Marie Kimball, of Gallatin; her sister and brother-in-law, Monica and Brandon Baker, of Chattanooga; her three brothers, David, of Seattle, Wash., John, of Castalian Springs, Tenn., and Joe, of Gallatin; and dozens of cousins; her loving aunts and uncles, Francene Kimball and Camille and Bill Daffron, Jim Yuhr and Paula and Walt Lincoln.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Gallatin, with Father Steven Gideon as celebrant and Father Vic Subb, Glenmary priest, in Lafayette as concelebrant. Burial will follow at Gallatin Cemetery.
Visitation will be today, Sept. 15, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Family Heritage Funeral Home, with the Rosary at 3:30 p.m.

RINGGOLD — Robert “Pat” Patterson Ingram, 63, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016.
A lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, he was an employee of the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department, where he served as a deputy then later as court bailiff, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Ringgold First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Eugene and Juanita Davis Ingram.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Denise Abston Ingram, of Ringgold, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Bo Barnhart, of Chattanooga; grandson, Charles West Barnhart; three sisters, Edith Brown, of Ringgold, Ga., Carol Brown, of Ringgold, Ga., and Valera Knight, of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga.; two brothers, Carlton Ingram, of Tennessee, and Rick Ingram, of Florida.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, in the funeral home chapel.

Joel Kevin King
ALBANY — Joel Kevin King, 56, died suddenly on Sept. 8, 2016, in Albany, Ga. He was born in London, England on Feb. 22, 1960.
Mr. King graduated from LaFayette High School, LaFayette Ga., received an undergraduate degree in management from the University of Maryland and a Masters Degree in management from Webster University.
He had a distinguished military career in the United States Air Force specializing in Signals Intelligence Analysis, Contingency/War Planning, Space and Missile Operations and Satellite Command and Control. He earned numerous awards and decorations including the Airman’s Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon and a Meritorious Service Medal retiring at the rank of Major. During his life and connection with the USAF he lived in England, Germany, and on the Island of Crete, Greece.
Following Air Force retirement he was employed as a Customer Logistics Site Specialist for DLA at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Ga., until the time of his passing.
He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Albany, Ga., and frequent visitor of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga, Tenn. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and sports.
He was predeceased by his father, Mr. David Lawrence King.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mabry Jean Durden King, of Chattanooga; children, Savannah Elizabeth King, of Hiram, Ga., and Andrew Joel Bowman King, of Acworth, Ga.; sister, Mrs Carla Doxey, of Missoula, Mont.; brother, Mr. Andrew Lawrence King, of La Porte, Texas; Dana B. Hibbard, of Chattanooga.
Visitation was held at Wallis Wilbanks Funeral Home Lafayette, Ga., on Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home today, at noon, with burial at 2 p.m., with full military honors at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

CHICKAMAUGA — Mother Elizabeth Ida Shellman Knox, 91, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at National Health Care.
She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for over 31 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert L. Knox, Sr.; daughter, Sheila McFarland; and parents, Rosco Shellman and Bessie Mae Appling Shellman.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn D. (Robert E.) Finnell, Anneda L. (William H.) Woodall, Rhonda L. (Eddie L.) Horton, Jacqueline E. (Michael D.) McGintis, Robert L. (Rosetta) Knox, Jr., Rev. Donald E. Knox, Roberta Derry, Carmen Kasler, and Kimberly J. (Freddie W.) Carl Wallace
CHICKAMAUGA — Carl Robert Wallace, 85, passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016.
He was a lifelong resident of Northwest Georgia and a member of Chickamauga Church of Christ, serving as an Elder for several years. Carl was a graduate of Gordon Lee Memorial High School, class of 1948, served his country in the U.S. Air Force, during the Korean War and was the owner/operator of Battlefield Frame Shop for more than 9 years.
Carl was a hard working family man who enjoyed speaking to everyone he met.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Martin, Sr., and Fannie Cagle Wallace; and brother, William Martin Wallace, Jr.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Juanita Wallace; children, Pamela (Terry L.) Tennant, David C. “George” Wallace and Holly (Nootie) Abbott; sister, Jane Marie Morrison; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, in Chattanooga National Cemetery, with Min. Shane Robinson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today, at the Chickamauga Church of Christ.

RINGGOLD — William Benton Watson, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at a local hospital.
Funeral Mass services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 15, 2016, at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, with Father Bill Williams officiating.
Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery, with military honors being observed.

Mary Sue Williams
ROME — Mary Sue Williams, 80, passed away Friday afternoon, Sept. 9, 2016.
A native of Hamilton County, Tenn., Mrs. Williams was born Jan. 29, 1936, daughter of the late Ruby Hilda Green Broadway and Charles Hubert Broadway. She had been a resident of Rome, most of her life, and prior to retirement, worked at Redmond Regional Medical Center as an administrative secretary.
She loved gardening and was a great seamstress in early years.
Mrs. Williams was an active member of the Garden Lakes Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Carroll Williams, April 17, 2015; and by two siblings, Paul Broadway and Hilda Wallace.
Survivors include her daughter, Leslie (Fite) Casey; two sons, Greg (Janie) Williams and Brett (Pam) Williams; grandchildren, Jesse (Carrie) Williams, Alisha (Kim) Holtzendorf, Michael Rogers, Gracie Casey, and Katrice (Joey) Brewer; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Easton Williams, Luke, Lane,and Jordan Holtzendorf, Ridge Rogers, and Carliegh and Brodie Otting; brother, Ross Broadway; and sisters, Jean Franks and Joy Loane.

Sarah Jo Bell York
LaFAYETTE — Sarah Jo Bell York, 87, ascended to her heavenly home Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, with her daughter, Carolyn by her side.
Sarah was born in LaFayette on Oct. 2, 1928, to the late Burnett and Eunice Holcomb Bell.
She loved gardening, crocheting and reading and was a very familiar face at the LaFayette Regional Library.
She was a caregiver professionally and by nature.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee York; brothers, Ralph and David Bell; and daughter, Sandra Grant.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Carolyn Gonzales; step sons, Michael Smith, Dan Smith, Jeff Smith and David York; 16 grandchildren; niece, Jackie Kinsey; nephews, Tim York and Benny Bell.

BOAZ — Glenn Edward Dorsett, 77, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016.

Glenn McPeters
PELHAM — Glenn Edward McPeters, 74, passed on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016. Glenn attended Lakeview Methodist Church.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather (DooDaddy).
He grew up in Chattanooga, and graduated from Central High School in 1960. He was also a U.S. Army Reserve Veteran.
After retirement with Consolidated Pipe and Supply in 2012, he enjoyed starting up the Junk King business with his children. Glenn enjoyed working with stained glass, woodworking, relaxing at the pool, and just enjoying life.
Mr. McPeters was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kristy McPeters Chason and Jeff McPeters (Jennifer); and grandchildren, Zach and Zane McPeters, and Bailey and Blaine Chason.
The celebration of Glenn’s life will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, with burial following in the adjoining cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Shelby Cancer Care Center.
