Albert B. Barnett, Jr., passed away Jan. 11, 2002; his wife, Evelyne Moore Barnett, passed away June 17, 2015. A committal service and interment of their cremains will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at Chattanoog­a National Cemetery, with Rev. Leroy T. Griffith, officiatin­g.

Brenda Carter

Brenda E. (Watkins) Carter, 64, of Chattanoog­a, passed away peacefully from this life the morning of Friday, Sept. 24, 2016, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 19, 1952, in Chattanoog­a to Robert Lewis Watkins, Sr., and Valeria Jo Howell. She was employed and retired by The Department of Children’s Services.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lewis Watkins, Sr., Valeria Jo Howell-Watkins; twin sister, Bernella Elaine Watkins; and grandson, Malachi A. Collins.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharonda Brown-Spence (Sam) and Monica Carter; three grandchild­ren, Ryan C. Brown, Jr., Malorie Carter-Hardy, and Madalyn Carter; brothers, Robert Watkins, Jr. (Bobby), Kenneth (Kathy) Watkins, and Daniel (Penny) Watkins; stepmother, Ella Mae Taylor; devoted aunt, Juanita Haywood; and uncle, Curtis Watkins; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Thursday, at noon at Olivet Baptist Church with Pastor Bullard as the eulogist.

John Fassnacht

John Hale Fassnacht, 39, passed away on Tuesday Aug. 30, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rick Fassnacht; paternal grandparen­ts, John and Susan Fassnacht; and maternal grandparen­ts, James and Margie Baskette.

He is survived by his mother, Vikki Baskette-Fassnacht; brother, Heath Fassnacht and wife, Susan; sister, Victoria Fassnacht and finance, David Todd; nieces, Carly, Amanda and Brianna Fassnacht and Emersyn Todd; uncle, Joe Fassnacht and wife, Susan; uncle, David Baskette and wife, Carol; aunt, Debbie King; and cousins.

The people who knew him, knew how adventurou­s he was and how much he liked to travel.

From scuba diving in the Bahamas, to snow boarding in Colorado, to excursions in Alaska, Hale was a real outdoorsma­n.

He especially loved camping and hiking.

A true kind-hearted friend that touched many lives.

Ruth Foote

Ruth Stokes Foote, 73, of Chattanoog­a, died on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016.

Ruth was born on Dec. 28, 1942, to the late Orlando and Zillie Stokes.

She is a member of Rossville Church of God, where she is known as a great worker in the church always helping others anyway she could in their time of need.

She loved her family, cooking, and her cats.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Arthell “Bud” Stokes.

She is survived by her loving husband, Harlen Foote; daughter, Cindy (Ira) Goolsby; son, Daryl Foote; brothers, Roger Dale Stokes and Harvey Stokes; sister, Wanda Morris; grandchild­ren, Danielle Goolsby, Sara Goolsby, Eli Foote, and Avery Foote, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held today, Sept. 28, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Jr. “James” Curtis officiatin­g. Burial will follow at New McDonald Cemetery.

George Garth

George Edward Garth, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 22, 2016.

He worked at Ross Meehan and retired from US Pipe Foundry.

He was a member of St. Matthew Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Brian (Jacquelyn) Harden, of Etna, Oh.; two loving grandchild­ren, Nerissa and Immanuel Harden, of Etna, Oh.; brother, Connie (Shirley) Garth, of Clinton Township, Mich.; sisters, Fannie Garth, of Moulton, Ala.; Eloise Garth Jones and Annie Garth Mosely, both of Courtland, Ala.; aunt, Annie Mae Watkins, of Chattanoog­a; sister-in-law, Elmer Mosley, of Chattanoog­a; special friends, Ezella Harden, John McGuire, Mary Mosley and James Sanderfer; a host of other relatives and friends.

Sybil Mae Jackson

LaFAYETTE — Sybil Mae Jackson, 76, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, surrounded by her family. Although she will be missed deeply, her legacy will continue on in the hearts and lives of the family who so profoundly loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Jackson, Sr.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam Pass, of Atlanta, Kim (Eddie) Blevins, Shannon Carroll, and Tonya Bowers, all of LaFayette; sons, Eddie (Michelle) Jackson and Chris (Becky) Jackson, all of LaFayette; 13 grandchild­ren; 11 great- grandchild­ren; and several nieces and nephews.

Terry Kilgore Sr.

Terry R. Kilgore Sr., 77, of Red Bank, passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at his home.

He was retired from Hopkins Surveying Group, where he worked as a Land Surveyor.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Zodia Kilgore; and brother, Jerry Kilgore.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Upchurch Kilgore; daughter, Kellie (Brandon) Mosgrove; son, Randy (Shannon) Kilgore; grandchild­ren, McKinley and Marina Mosgrove and Jack Kilgore; sister, Patricia (Bill) Brownsey, several nieces and nephews.

Ellis Lamb

Mr. Ellis ‘Red’ Lamb, passed away peacefully not far from where he was raised in Natchez, Miss., on Sept. 22, 2016, at the age of 90.

He had a cardiac arrest while cruising on a riverboat down the Mississipp­i River with his sister and brother in law.

On July 15, 1926, in Burnside, Miss., Ellis was the firstborn of Ellis and Nellie Lamb.

His parents relocated to a farm in Bexley, Miss., when he was six and then graduated early from Lucedale High School.

He joined the Navy early in 1943, to assist in the war effort.

He served on ships in the Pacific and became one of the first Navy personnel to be trained to work with new machines called IBM computers.

He married Thelma Lynch in 1952, after meeting her in Washington, D.C., while both serving in the Navy. Ellis and Thelma lived many places including San Diego, San Francisco, Virginia Beach, Northern Virginia, Atlanta and Hilton Head, S.C. over 63 years together.

Ellis received his Bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland, and also attended night school to earn a Master’s degree from George Washington University.

He rose through the ranks in the Navy to ultimately retire as a Commander after 30 years.

He was a voracious reader and enjoyed golfing, spending time with family and travelling on cruises throughout the world with Thelma.

He moved to California three years ago, to be close to his son and family while taking care of Thelma until her passing only five months ago from Alzheimer’s.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; his brother, Floyd Lamb; and brothersin-law, Carlton Eckhoff and Richard Haeussler.

Ellis is survived by his son, Eric (Catherine), of Atherton, Calif.; and daughter, Lisa (Henry) Nelson, of Beaufort, S.C.

He has five grandchild­ren, Joshua, Kevin, Spencer, Megan and Rebecca.

Ellis is survived by his sisters, Nina Moodie(Roland), of San Antonio, Texas, Nell Haeussler, of Albia, Iowa, Ruth Eckhoff, of Cary, N.C.; and his brother, Henry Lamb (Lynn), of Tupelo, Miss.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Dick Fisher officiatin­g, with a reception to follow.

All are welcome to attend the service, reception and celebrate Ellis’ life.

A graveside service for family will be held on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Chattanoog­a National Cemetery.

Patricia Lawhorn

Patricia Martin Lawhorn, 64, of Chattanoog­a, died on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1951, to the late John and Jane Martin, Jr.

She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School.

She worked for John Martin Co. Inc and most recently the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier.

Pat came to be known as the family historian with her many photos and Digital Scrapbooki­ng.

Her cross stitching was a work of art that the nieces and nephews will treasure in the blankets she made for them.

Pat was an avid reader and loved animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jane Martin, Jr.; siblings, Lynn Crantford and Richard Martin.

She is survived by her brothers, Jack (Susie) Martin, Bob Martin; and brother in law, Bobby Crantford; sisters, Joanne (Bill Toop) Martin, Nancy (Pat) Neuhoff, Susan (Robert) Blasius, Pam (Joe) Franklin; and a life long best friend, Kay Hines Tatum; and 12 nieces and nephews, Frank Martin, Julie Whary, John (Kelly) Crantford, Chris Crantford, Amy (Mark) Smith, Matt (Clarissa) Martin, Emily (Kyle) Farnsley, Megan Neuhoff, Taylor Vaughn, Joseph (Emily Pennington) Franklin, Daniel Neuhoff and Chase Blasius, she considered these her children.

A special thanks to all her caregivers, Kay, Gloria, Kathy, Karl, Nancy, Joanne, Chris, Emily, Daniel, Amy and Pam, and all those who could not be here but prayed for her peace and comfort.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, with Rev. James Vick, Rev. Adam Royal, Rev. Mike Nolan and Rev. Joe McMahon.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Marcia McMillin

Marcia McMillin, died peacefully Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016.

She was the daughter of the late Col. Douglass Newman McMillin, of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., and Ariel Stevenson McMillin originally, of Gadsden, Ala.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Garvin McMillin Colburn, of Lookout Mountain; three nieces, Ariel F. Colburn, of Nashville, I. Cecilia Colburn, of Lookout Mountain, and Rosemary C. (Jim) Milburn, of Lookout Mountain; grandnephe­w, J. Charles (Latricia) Milburn, of Chattanoog­a; grandniece, Grace Milburn (Michael) Viertel, of Chattanoog­a; great-grandniece, Lila McCarly Milburn; and great-grandnephe­w, Lawson James Milburn, of Chattanoog­a.

She is also survived by her cousin, Mrs. Peggy McMillin Kovacevich and family, of St. Louis, Mo., Ms. Rena Lyle, of Atlanta, Ga., and Stevenson cousins in California and Montana.

Ms McMillin was a descendant of the Robert Cravens family.

In the course of her father’s Army career, she attended schools in Puerto Rico, Arizona, Hawaii, Minnesota and Chattanoog­a.

She attended St. Mary’s College in Raleigh, N.C., and was graduated with a music degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Ms. McMillin was an art teacher at Lookout Mountain Elementary School, the art director at Fowler’s Furniture Store, worked in the music department at Clements Furniture Store, and was a graphic designer for Double Cola and Starkey’s Printing Co., from which she retired.

Ms. McMillin was devoted to classical music and opera. She had a beautiful soprano voice and trained under Mme. Emmy Land-Woolf. Beginning at the age of 15, and retiring at 80, she sang with the local opera company, meeting many of the upcoming stars from the Metropolit­an Opera Company as they toured. She was the longest serving member of the Chattanoog­a Opera company and a member of the Chattanoog­a Music Club.

She loved and was loved by all animals. She owned horses, cats, Maltese dogs, and was a friend to woodland animals.

After retirement, she volunteere­d at the Chattanoog­a Zoo, and the Tennessee Aquarium.

She exhibited in horse shows, won ribbons for her Maltese dogs in the U.S. and Canada, was a member of a hiking and kite club, and took up scuba diving in her 70’s.

Marcia was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Amen

Dynasty Sharee Mohammed, 5 months, of Chattanoog­a, passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at her residence.

Sondra Nicholas

Sondra Darlene Nicholas, 57, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016.

She lived most of her life in the Hixson and Soddy-Daisy area and enjoyed visiting The Vineyard Church.

Sondra was a teacher for 15 years at the Daisy Head Start. She had a love for children, being a “Nana”, family and the Tennessee Volunteers. She had incredible courage in the face of adversity and an ability to handle challenges with a sense of humor.

Sondra was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Nicholas; parents, Charlie and Elva Woy; sister, Brenda Minnick and brother, Charles Gionfriddo.

Survivors are her daughter, Sondra Nichole Raines (Carl, Jr.); sisters, Barbara Gravitte (Roger) and Mary Atwood (Rick); brothers, Ronnie Gionfriddo (Jeanne) and Chuck Woy (Tracy); grandchild­ren, Corbin Isiah Raines and Sondra Vanessa Raines; mother-in-law, Virginia Coker (Bill) and several nieces and nephews.

Helen Louise Roach, 93, of Ooltewah, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, in a local health care facility.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Doyal Walraven; second husband, Paul Roach; two sons, Lindsay L. Walraven and David Michael Walraven.

She retired from 3M Corporatio­n and attended Ooltewah Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Connie Walraven; daughter-in-law, Dana Walraven, all of Harrison; five grandchild­ren and two great-grandchild­ren.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanoog­a Funeral Home, with Rev. Ronnie Layne officiatin­g.

A private interment will be in Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, in Sugar Valley, Ga.

Paula Stone

Paula Jane Stone, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at a Knoxville Health Care facility.

She was a lifelong resident of Chattanoog­a.

Moving there at a young age from Mayfield, Ky., she was the daughter of the late George and Eliza Holland Crawford.

She was a graduate of Chattanoog­a Central High School, class of 1946.

For many years she worked at Chattanoog­a Federal Savings & Loan Bank.

She also worked at Hale Reality for several years and later was employed with TVA. School Class.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Parnick L. Stone; one son, Dan (Sylvia) Stone, of Louisville, Tenn.; three grandsons, Matthew (Charlotte) Stone, of Charlottes­ville, Va., Andrew (Anna-Ruth) Stone, of Franklin, Tenn., and Phillip Stone, of Knoxville, Tenn.; one greatgrand­daughter, Lillian Stone; one brother, George Crawford, of Jasper, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

A celebratio­n of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanoog­a Funeral Home, with Dr. Bill Owens officiatin­g.

Interment will be in Chattanoog­a National Cemetery.

She was a member of the Ridgedale Baptist Church of Chattanoog­a, where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday

Kathryn Marie Russold Tate, 97, of Chattanoog­a, formerly of Dunlap, died at her daughters home Monday, Sept. 26, 2016.

She was born and raised in Rock Springs, Wyo.

She was a member of OLPH Catholic Church, in East Ridge.

Preceded in death by parents, Fred and Mary Sever Russold; her husband, David Eugene Tate; three sisters, Anne, Rose and Chris; one brother, Fredrick.

Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Ruth Tate, Jacqueline Tate, Jean Marie (Brian) Harrison, Mary Brunghardt, of Chattanoog­a; one son, David Fredrick (Vicki) Tate, of Dunlap; six grandchild­ren, 19 great-grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:30 p.m., EDT Friday, at OLPH Catholic Church, with Father Adam Royal Officiatin­g.

Burial will follow at Chattanoog­a National Cemetery.

Billie Teems

Billie Sharp Teems, 59, of Ooltewah, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at her home surrounded by family and friends.

Billie was a hardworkin­g and caring woman.

She was most proud of her daughter and grandchild­ren. They were her world. She will be greatly missed.

Billie was preceded in death by her mother, Earlene Raper; and her father, William (Bill) Sharp.

She is survived by her daughter, Brandy Hitchcock Teems; granddaugh­ter, Shelbie Hitchcock; and grandson, Matthew Hitchcock, of Ooltewah; godchildre­n, Callie and Landon McDonald, of Chickamaug­a; sister, Louise Dunn, of Old Fort, Tenn.; half sister, Teresa Watson; and step mother, Jane Sharp, of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; stepfather, Curtis Raper, of Ooltewah and many nieces and nephews.

Gertrude Terry

Gertrude Terry, 90, of Chattanoog­a, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2016.

She was the last surviving member of her family.

She was retired from Chattanoog­a City Schools as a cafeteria worker and a member of Rossville Church of God.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Terry; her care giver, Janice Terry; nieces and nephews, Paul and Betty Terry, of Bellville, Ill.; John Terry, of Chattanoog­a, and Ann and Vasco Jenkins, of Summervill­e, Ga., many nieces and nephews. There was no visitation. Interment was at Chattanoog­a Memorial Park, Red Bank.

Michael Anthony Williams, 61, passed away on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, in Greenevill­e, Tenn.

Michael was born in Chattanoog­a, on Dec. 20, 1954. He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Williams.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Gloria Jean Maddox and Preston Maddox; brother, Anthony “Tony” Alan Williams; and sister, Kimberly Pratt.

The family will have private burial services for Mike.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Buford Bradford Sr.

DUNLAP — Buford Eugene Bradford Sr., 88, of Dunlap, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at his home.

He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and member of Dunlap Masonic Lodge Post 693.

Buford was preceded in death by his wife, Seawillow Smith Bradford; parents, James Wesley and Viola Pearl Jones Bradford; He had six brothers, all deceased; and five sisters, two of which preceded him.

Survivors include his sons, Buford Eugene (Doris) Bradford Jr., James (Vickie) Bradford, and Walter Bradford; sisters, Mildred Parks, Addie Freeman, and Viola Williams; grandchild­ren, Timmy Bradford, Jeremy Bradford, Chandra Cribbs, Wesley Bradford, Joshua Bradford, Jared Bradford, and Hannah Hickey; nine great-grandchild­ren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. CDT Thursday Sept. 29, 2016, in the Ewton Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Terry Barker officiatin­g.

Burial will follow in Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens.

Charles Caldwell

WHITWELL — Charles Wayne Caldwell, 68, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hillard and Ruby Worley Caldwell; sister, Virginia Faye Caldwell; brothers, Clyde, Lewis and Ed Caldwell; special nephew Christophe­r Caldwell all of Whitwell, Tenn.

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 35 years, Norma Jean “Jeannie” Caldwell; sisters, Judy (Dwight) Bryant, of Whitwell and Nancy Caldwell, of Murfreesbo­ro; brothers, Gene (Pam) Caldwell, of Palmer, Steve (Ruth) Caldwell, Rick (Ruth) Caldwell, both of Whitwell, and Jimmy (Sandra) Caldwell, of Cleveland, Tenn.; mother-in-law, Velda “Tootsie” Parker and multiple brothers and sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, including one special nephew, Jacob Caldwell and two very close great-nephews and many friends.

He will truly be missed by those who knew him. He loved to joke and pick at everyone and always enjoyed a good laugh at others expense.

William Goforth

JASPER — William A. “Runt” Goforth, 95, passed away Sept. 26, 2016.

He was a retiree of Crane Enamel Company, of Chattanoog­a, and was of the Baptist Faith.

Bill was a World War II veteran, having served the Army in Europe.

He served in Italy and Africa, participat­ing in the Sicilian Naples-Foggia and Roman-Arno Campaigns. Bill received the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, the Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Jessie Tate Goforth; brothers, Vadell, Joe, John, and Paul Goforth; and sisters, Katherine Brown and Shirley Goins.

Bill is survived by his sisters, Ella Mae Rogers, of Jasper, and Bettye Cagle, of Lookout Valley; and his brother, Stanley Goforth, of Jasper; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Bridge at South Pittsburg, and Parkridge hospital for their care and compassion.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m., CDT today, and on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, from 9 a.m., CDT until the time of the service.

Leon Morgan

CLEVELAND — Leon D. “Lee” Morgan, 77, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born Nov. 12, 1938, in Ooltewah, to the late Evans and Lem Morgan.

He attended Meadow View Elementary and graduated from Ooltewah High School.

He served in the United States Air Force from 19631967, where he was stationed in South Dakota and Germany.

He worked and retired after 32 years of service from the TNT Plant in Chattanoog­a.

He was a member of Clingan Ridge Baptist church but was unable to attend in the last few years due to being the caregiver of his loving wife and sister.

He loved Christ, his family, and his church family. Through the years, he enjoyed being a little league baseball coach.

He loved sports and nothing made him happier than watching his son and grandson play. He also loved working in the garden and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy Morgan, Doc Morgan, Jack Morgan and Harry Morgan; and sisters, Lillie Mae Farrior and Mary Lee Morgan.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Geraldine “Jerri” Morgan; his son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Kelley Morgan; his grandson and wife, B. J. and Dena’ Morgan; two great-grandsons, Cal and Beau Morgan, all of Cleveland; sisters, Viola Morgan, of Ooltewah, Bessie (Leon) Lowe, of Cleveland, and Joyce (Ronnie) Harden, of McDonald; and numerous other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services will follow at 7 p.m. in the Valley View Chapel, with Rev. Clint Ledford officiatin­g.

Interment will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at 9 a.m. at the Old McDonald Cemetery in Harrison, Tenn. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

ROSSVILLE — Lisa “Taz” Cabrera, 44, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016.

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanoog­a and North Georgia areas and was a member of Freedom Community Church in Dalton, Ga.

Lisa had worked as a Caregiver for most of her life and truly enjoyed helping others.

She enjoyed traveling, especially to Arizona and the Grand Canyon and loved playing board games with friends and family.

She was a loving and devoted daughter and wife that will be truly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Evett, Jr. and Louise Grace Wallace.

FLINTSTONE — Harry Crump Sr., 75, passed away on Friday evening, Sept. 23, 2016, at his home.

Harry always loved the family softball game and loved chasing the kids around the bases.

RINGGOLD — Patricia Erin Greene, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at a local hospital.

Ms. Greene, a native of Baltimore, Md., was born on Oct. 3, 1938, and has spent the past six years in the Ringgold, Ga., area. She was previously employed with South Trust Bank, where she worked in the Bookkeepin­g/Accounting department. Her passions in life were taking care of her cats. She loved animals and had volunteere­d her time with the Catoosa Citizens for Animal Care.

Patricia was a loving person and will truly be missed by who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Clara E. Greene; sister, Claire Fuqua and nephew, Joe Fuqua.

Survivors include her nephews, Craig (Susan) Fuqua, Brian (Stacy) Fuqua and Kevin Fuqua; niece-inlaw, Stacy Burns; and several great nieces and nephews.
