Lender donates to police

- STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS

The Dothan and Ozark police departments have received Christmas gifts from the Hometown Lenders mortgage company.

WSFA-TV reports the company Friday donated $250 for every closing and the customer got to choose which police department received the money. The Dothan Police Department received four checks; Ozark PD received two.

Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker said the donation helps officers know the community is behind them and gives them the confidence to continue to do a job that a lot of people wouldn’t.

Dothan Police Chief Steven Parrish said the funds will go to the police foundation to help with officer education and training.

The Ozark Police Department plans to buy new laptops and cover some renovation expenses at its firing range.
