Helen Bradford Wier, 86, died on Feb. 21, 2017.

She was a resident of Alexian Village, Signal Mountain, where she lived for 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James R. and Annie Mae Bradford and her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Wier.

She is survived by two children, Angela J. Wier and K. Bradford Wier (Patti); three grandchild­ren, Scott, Seth, and Rachel: one sister, Jane Nicholas (William Lee).

She was a charter member of Huffman Presbyteri­an Church, Birmingham, Ala., which initially became Grace Presbyteri­an Church following mergers with the Pinson and East Lake Presbyteri­an Churches and is now Cahaba Springs Presbyteri­an Church.

She loved her church family and through the years served as deacon, elder, and President of the women of the church.

She was a graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. She worked at the UAB Medical School, taught in Birmingham City Schools and later worked part-time in the Birmingham Public Library System

“Honey” was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmothe­r, who cherished her family and was especially adored by her grandchild­ren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cahaba Springs Presbyteri­an Church, Trussville, Ala.

A memorial celebratio­n of life will be held at Signal Mountain Presbyteri­an Church, Marr Chapel on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at 2 p.m. with visitation following.

Interment will be at a later date at Elmwood cemetery in Birmingham, Ala., with a family graveside service.
