Keep Republicans from taking action
Republicans in Congress are chafing at the bit and rolling up their sleeves to repeal the Affordable Care Act, privatize Medicare, defund Planned Parenthood and pass all sorts of extreme conservative bills. They’re in a hurry.
They’re in a hurry to gloss over their president’s highly questionable conflicts of interest, his refusal to make his tax returns public, and his and the campaign’s role in Russia’s interference in our nation’s election — a virtual act of war. Republican legislators are desperate to quickly push their fictional mandate, and they are willing either unwittingly or intentionally to aid and abet a very shadowy presidential administration.
Americans have questions about our election. We have questions about outside influences on our politics, our president and his appointees. We need Congress to do its job and call for an independent investigative committee. House and Senate committees are too partisan. In fact, Congress’s reputation for getting anything done at all has been historically lacking.
With the peddling of misinformation by the Trump administration and congressional Republicans finding little stomach to act quickly on investigations, we must keep the pressure on to get to the truth and not let Congress shift our attention.
