Guitar-Chattanooga welcomes French guitar virtuoso for con--
Judicaël Perroy, a classical guitarist from Paris, will perform a special concert Sunday, March 12, at Chattanooga State Community College. The event is presented by GuitarChattanooga.
Perroy, 43, began his guitar studies at the Paris Academy of Music at age 7 and was recognized as a prodigy by age 11. At 14, he was awarded a unanimous first prize with a special mention at the National Academy of Aulnay-sousBois. In 1992, he won a unanimous first prize and the audience prize at the René Bartoli International Competition. He also earned honors in the seventh International Competition of Bourg-Madame, a contest in which the audience selects the prize winner.
He graduated from the Paris National Conservatoire of Music in 1996, earning the highest placement in his class, and in October 1997 won the Guitar Foundation of America International Solo Competition, earning him the winner’s tour of the Americas, with more than 60 concerts and master classes.
He tours extensively throughout the world and has made a number of recordings while teaching at the National Academy of Aulnay-sous-Bois near Paris, along with appearances in the Paris Guitar Duo with French guitarist Jeremy Jouve since 2003.
The nonprofit GuitarChattanooga was founded in 2015 to promote classical guitar performances, classes and educational outreach in the city.
