Student-led U-Church next at Lee University

- STAFF REPORT

Lee University’s spring U-Church season will continue Sunday, March 19, with the student-led “Come to the Table: An Evening of Worship.”

The service, featuring music by the Lee University Chapel Band, spoken word, dance, art and Communion, starts at 7:30 p.m. in Conn Center, 150 11th St. on the Cleveland, Tenn., campus.

The theme of the evening is “Stories of Surrender,” inspired by Revelation 12:11a, which reads, “And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony” (New Living Translation).

Speaking to that theme is a new, original song written by members of the U-Church creative student planning team.

“The original song was born out of this idea that we’ve all been found in the same place — a place of brokenness, hurt and hardship — but as Christ meets us there, we respond with surrender,” says Caroline Hamby, a junior music and worship major and student worship leader.

“That looks so different for everyone — maybe surrendering a dream, a plan or a wholehearted lifestyle change. But at the end of the day, it’s something we all share. Being covered by the grace of God, we must constantly position ourselves in a yielded posture of surrender.”

Open to the community, U-Church is free and nonticketed. Seating is first-come, first-served. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Child care is available. Contact Lindsey Sifferman at lsifferman@leeuniversity.edu for more information.
