Lookouts adding bigger video board
AT&T Field will have a bigger and better video board for the 2017 season.
The Chattanooga Lookouts announced Thursday that a new board nearly 35 feet wide and 17 feet high will accompany the Southern League franchise’s upcoming 70-game home schedule. It will replace a video board that measured just 16-by-12.
“We are thrilled to be able to make this investment in Chattanooga,” Lookouts managing owner Jason Freier said in a release. “The Lookouts are always striving to improve the fan experience at AT&T Field. This new video board, with its larger size, higher resolution and superior capabilities, will bring fans even closer to the game action and enhance our fun on-field promotions.”
The new board will be manufactured by Daktronics, which will handle the installation as well. Daktronics provides the primary video board for 21 of 30 Major League Baseball teams and has boards in 25 NFL and 22 NBA venues.
According to Lookouts officials, the new board will be 150 percent more densely pixelated than the previous board and can show one large image or multiple zones of content simultaneously, including live video, statistics, graphics and sponsorship messages.
“The ability to see players up close, see the between-innings action on the video board and incorporate fun new features, such as fan-cams, will noticeably enrich the fan experience,” Lookouts president and general manager Rich Mozingo said. “We are excited to be able to bring these new and improved elements to our fans on a nightly basis.”
