‘Walking Dead’s’ zombies invading Dalton Comic Convention Saturday
Fans of “The Walking Dead” may not recognize Larry Mainland, Sonya Thompson and Savana Jade Wehunt without their blood-and-gore makeup, but the three zombie actors from the hit TV show will be signing autographs at the Dalton Comic and Pop Culture Convention on Saturday, March 25, in the Dalton (Ga.) Convention Center.
Organizer Daniel Germany of Dalton says last spring’s inaugural comic con drew more than 500 folks and he is expecting at least double that number this weekend.
“We have 60 vendors, and Game On is offering free HeroClix demos. We will have the Zombie Truck in a set with people dressed as zombies so visitors can get their pictures made looking like they are running from zombies or whatever they want,” he describes.
Germany says Mainland, who has acted in 13 movies and played a monster in “Goosebumps,” Thompson and Wehunt will be on-site all day to meet fans for pictures and autographs.
Members of Chattooine will set up at the show and pose for pictures with science-fiction fans. Chattooine is a local fan group of “Star Wars” and other science-fiction movies and characters, who come to events costumed and ready to interact with visitors.
There will be giveaways throughout the day, and the first 100 paid admissions will receive a free Buffy the Vampire Slayer “Spike” trading card.
Germany says any visitors who wish to come in costume to the comic con are welcome to do so.
“There won’t be a costume contest, but if that’s how somebody enjoys coming, then come on,” he says.
