HAMILTON COUNTY Henry Compton

Henry “Hank” Compton, 66, of Chattanoog­a, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at his home.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Bobby Wilson officiatin­g.

Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

Charles Davis

Charles Davis, 69, of Chattanoog­a, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 20, 2017, at his residence.

He was a longtime member of Philadelph­ia Missionary Baptist Church until his health failed. He retired from Erlanger Medical Center where he worked for more than 45 years in day storage.

Charles Davis was born Nov. 19, 1947, to the late Homer I. Davis Sr., and Lucille (Davis) Williams.

He was preceded in death by his wife,, Barbara Jo Davis; grandparen­ts, Fletcher and Maggie Collins; father, Homer L. Davis Sr.; and brother, Kerry Davis.

He is survived by his daughters, Shimeal King and CaTonya Davis; son, Marico Davis and stepson, Jerry and Antonio McMath; mother, Lucille (Rev. Robert) Davis Williams; siblings; sister, Mattie Williams and Emma Leslie; brother, Homer I. Davis Jr.; grandchild­ren, Shamiko Davis, Edward King Jr., Jalen Smith, Jared Walker, Tyler and Christian Davis; great-granddaugh­ter, Kalia Smith; devoted cousin, Patricia Russell Bailey, a host of nieces; nephew; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be today, March 23, 2017 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Arthur Domineck

Rev. A. L. Domineck, 58, of Chattanoog­a, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017, in a local hospital.

He was a 1976 graduate of Chattanoog­a City High School. He also received his Christian Theology Diploma from Internatio­nal Seminary through the Chattanoog­a Baptist Bible College and Center. Rev. Domineck was the former spiritual advisor, member and choir director of the Chattanoog­a Mass Choir. He was also a former member of the Chattanoog­a City Wide Choir and Union Grove Baptist Church. He was the former pastor of the Piney Woods Baptist Church, former assistant pastor of the Galilee Baptist Church, and the former interim pastor of New Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev. Domineck was member of Olivet Baptist Church where he served on the ministeria­l staff. He was formerly employed by Erlanger Medical Center, Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home, Hamilton County Schools and Taylor Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Domineck Sr.; maternal grandparen­ts, Mattie and Baxter Brown; cousins, Timothy L. Benton and Gerald L. Benton Sr.

Survivors include his daughters, Tanisha (Artie) Watson and Kason (Anthony) Castanera, all of Chattanoog­a; stepsons, Jason and Johnathan Nicholson; love of his life, Diane Domineck; mother, Delores Domineck; grandmothe­r, Pauline Long; four grandchild­ren, Willie J. Domineck, Kaleb and Kelis Castanera-Domineck and Jadaya Nicholson; brothers, Arthur (Karen) Domineck, of Suisun, Calif., Calvin (Faye) Maddox of Knoxville, Tenn., Eric (Darnelle) Domineck, of Pikesville, Md., and Charles Maddox, of Chattanoog­a; sisters, Rhonda Jones, Dot (Willie) Graves, Pat (Tim) White, and Frankie (Alex) Kendrick, all of Chattanoog­a; aunts, Joyce Fears, and Elsie Mae Brown; godsisters, Sabrina (C. Joan Fisher

Joan Fisher, 84, of East Ridge, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at her home with her loved ones at her side.

She was a member of Crosspath Church and was a librarian at East Ridge Baptist Church (Crosspath) for more than 40 years. She also served at the East Ridge Public Library and East Ridge Middle School Library. She was a member of the Transatlan­tic Brides and Parents Associatio­n (T.B.P.A.), where she was the secretary of her local chapter for many years.

Everyone who has ever met her could see the love and joy she had for life and people through her beautiful smile and eyes. She never met a stranger.

Her husband of almost 60 years, Burl Fisher, preceded her in death.

Surviving her are her daughters, Janet and Sherry Fisher; grandson, Terry (Lynda) Cope; great-grandchild­ren, Seth and Jonna Cope.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017, in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in Chattanoog­a National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Robert Hamilton

Robert Lawrence Hamilton, 80, of Hixson, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017.

He served his country as a pilot in the U.S. Navy. Robert was a mechanical engineer serving as the Senior Mechanical Engineer with NASA over the Space Program, the Senior Air Frame Engineer over Space Shuttles and was the Senior Mechanical Engineer over the Apollo Lunar Module Spacecraft. He also worked at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant where he was over Quality Assurance.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Vera Hamilton and a brother, Wallace Hamilton.

Survivors include his sons, Mark Hamilton (Dawn), of Soddy-Daisy and Martin Hamilton, of San Francisco; daughter, Debbie Irick, of Soddy-Daisy; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Hamilton; grandchild­ren, Zach Irick, Blake Irick and Caroline Hamilton; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held today, March 24, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. at the National Cemetery with Rev. Darrell Davenport officiatin­g and military honors by the U.S. Navy.

Antonia Moten

Antonia Regina Moten, 53, of Chattanoog­a, Tenn., passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017.

She was born on July 4, 1963, in Bogalusa, La., to the late Luther and Essie Holmes Hart. Her husband, Willie Moten, son, Justen Hart, grandson, Anthony Carree, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Anthony) Nicholson, LaTasha Hart, and Tia (Walter) Fortson, of Chattanoog­a; son, Anthony Hinton, of Knoxville, Tenn.; 13 grandchild­ren, Aleyah, Vanshun, Destiny, Diamond, Walter III, Adrian, Antonio, Autumn, Veronica, Akaylah, and Brooklyn; two great-grandchild­ren, Mi’cah and Remi; sister, Antoinette Hart, of Chattanoog­a; brother, Larry Hart, of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; aunts, Mary Gustus, of Chattanoog­a, and Jannie Ruth Holmes Harris, of Illinois; two close friends, LaFonda Witcher and Angela Cowan; a host of other relatives and friends.

Rodney North

Rodney Elliott North, 59, of East Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Mr. North was born and raised in East Ridge. He was a member of Crosspath Church and a graduate of East Ridge High School class of 1975, and Tennessee Technical University, class of 1979. He was a member of IBEW since 1981. He worked many years for Duncan Electric as well as several other companies in Chattanoog­a.

Rod was an avid nature enthusiast, coffee ambassador and respected co-worker. He was most importantl­y an adoring father, devoted son, and loving brother.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Freda North; and sister, Renee McKaig.

Surviving are his daughters, Jordan North and Natalie (Kanaan) Crutchfiel­d; father, Jim North; sister, Rhonda (John) Ward; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the funeral home with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiatin­g.

Mrs. Annie Louise Taylor, of 4703 Fairwood Lane Chattanoog­a, Tenn., passed away March 21, 2017, at Standifer Place.

Edd L. Utley

Edd L. Utley, of Signal Mountain, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, he was 90.

A native of North Carolina, he had lived on Signal Mountain for the past few years. Prior to retirement, Edd had been employed by Dixie Yarns in Chattanoog­a as Controller for 25 years. Earlier he had been employed by Burlington Industries in North Carolina and Pennsylvan­ia.

Edd was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served our country in the U.S. Navy Air Corps., during World War II. He was a member of Signal Crest United Methodist Church. 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.”

Edd was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Henry “Jack” Utley and Ruby Porter Utley; and his brother, Robert Gerald “Hank” Utley.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 50 years, Patricia McInturff Utley; two sons, Stanley Porter Utley, Wilmington, N.C., and Timothy Phillips Utley and wife, Linda, of Red Bank, Tenn.; and six grandchild­ren, Porter, Baxter, Joshua, Amber, Rachel and Mary Grace.

There will be a private graveside service with military honors at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at Chattanoog­a National Cemetery with Rev. Mark Scott officiatin­g.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Misty Vaughn

Misty D. Vaughn, 41, of East Ridge, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

She had lived in the North Georgia area for most of her life and was a member of Ringgold First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Ringgold High School Class of ‘93 and was a loving daughter who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She loved life and lived it to the fullest and was always looking for the best in everyone.

She was preceded in death by her son, Roger Lee and grandparen­ts, Edgar and Iowa Pierce and Vernon and Wanda Vaughn.

Survivors include her parents, Gary and Teresa Vaughn and son, Elijah “Eli” Vaughn, all of Ringgold, Ga.; and numerous extended family and friends.

Celebratio­n of life service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017, in the Wallis-Stewart Chapel. Burial will be private.

Robert Evans Ward

Robert Evans Ward, 81, peacefully went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 20, 2017, surrounded by his family.

He was born and raised in Chattanoog­a and graduated from City High School in 1952. He retired from Combustion Engineerin­g after 54 years in the engineerin­g department.

Bob was an outdoor enthusiast and loved biking, hiking, kayaking and was a charter member of the Chattanoog­a Water Ski Club. He loved to dance and was passionate about body building and healthy lifestyle.

He was a personal trainer to many and was happiest in the gym working out and teaching others about diet and nutrition. He was involved in competitiv­e body building in his earlier years.

His many interests also included music, theater and the arts. He was artistical­ly inclined and liked to do charcoal drawings.

Bob will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as a strong man with a tender heart who appreciate­d the beautiful things God gave us.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles S. Ward Sr., and Onie Mable Evans Ward; sister, Winifred (Wendy) Cooper; brother, Charles (Charlie) S. Ward Jr.; and daughter, Susan Lyn Cox.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Ward; sons, Steven Ward and Scott Humphreys; daughter, Shannon Jones; grandsons, Nathan Cox, Jacob Ward, Josh Ward, Nicholas Ward, Taylor Ward, Spencer Ward, Cameron Jones, Jake Jones, Tripp Jones and nine great-grandchild­ren.

Bob was a member of Fort Oglethorpe First Baptist Church, where in lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to the Freedom Fund.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held today, March 24, 2017, at Fort Oglethorpe Baptist Church, with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. and the service following at 3 p.m., officiated by Pastor Jason Thomas.

Ms. Kathy Elizabeth Williams was born Oct. 27, 1956, in Chattanoog­a, Tenn., where she attended Howard High School.

Kathy called Nashville, Tenn., her home for more than 30 years when she departed this life on Saturday, March 18, 2017.

Kathy was an active member of Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully on many committee for 9 years.

JASPER — David Ray Baxter , 77, passed away Tuesday March 21, 2017.

He taught in the Marion County Education system for 37 years, 20 years at South Pittsburg High School, and 17 years at Marion County High School where he coached football for both schools.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harl L. and Ruby Lee Headrick Baxter.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Priscilla Baxter; son Bob (Susan) Baxter, of South Pittsburg, Tenn.; daughters, Lynn Baxter, of South Pittsburg, and Dee (Gary) Harwell, of Chattanoog­a; brother, Bill (Jean) Baxter; sister, Linda (Henry) Longley; grandchild­ren, Skye Baxter, Cole and Caleb Rector.

RINGGOLD — David Edward Cochran, 62, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, in a local hospital.

David was the co-owner and operator of Cochran’s Travel Center in Ringgold for 35 years and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan, enjoyed NASCAR, golfing, snow skiing, and riding motorcycle­s.

His mother, Mary Will Cochran, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Yvonne Cochran; daughter, Ashley (Joe) Hicks; sons, Brandon and Chase Cochran; grandchild­ren, Makenna, Gracie, Lance, Kaylie, Haiden, Preslei, Blaklei, and Briggs; sisters, Angelia (Len) Hunt, Cindy Martin, and Denise (Greg) Kinnamon; several nieces and nephews.

RINGGOLD — Edmond Mize Logan, 63, passed peacefully in his sleep the morning of Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

How do you say goodbye to a legend like Ed Logan? One of the greatest men I will ever have the privilege of not only knowing, but considerin­g a friend. He was born to the late Tommy and Barbara Logan on May 17, 1953, in Chattanoog­a, Tenn. Ed brought forth a joy that had likely never before been seen. He has since spent these 63 years generously sharing this joy and his well-earned wisdom to any and all lucky enough to cross his path. Though some may have seen his ferocious temper, most knew him as a gentle spirit who was the life, and often host of every party. “Cash” Ed had a heart the size of Texas and a personalit­y nearly twice as big. We love you...Until we meet again.

In the wake of his passing, Ed leaves behind his loving wife of more than 26 years, Faith Webster Logan; children, Scott, Mark, Eddie, Billy, Charity and Sarah; sister, Linda; grandchild­ren, Markie, Cory, Matthew, Evan, Jaxon, Trey, Mason, Heather, Grace and Violet; great-granddaugh­ters, Holli and Carlee and many nieces, nephews and beloved other family and friends.

RINGGOLD — Mrs. Virginia Lee Rosenbaum, 85, passed away at her residence Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

Virginia was born in Elizabetht­on, Tenn. To her parents, Harry and Gladys Winters Wilson, she was a homemaker and attended the Westview Baptist Church in East Brainerd, Tenn.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Rosenbaum, of 66 years; two brothers and one son-in-law.

Survivors include children, Gary (Freida) Rosenbaum, Allan, Wayne, and Michael Rosenbaum, Deborah Smith and Cathy (James) Fincher; seven grandchild­ren; seven great-grandchild­ren; and one great-great-grandchild as well three sisters and one brother also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Rosenbaum will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Brother Dwight Wilson officiatin­g.

RAMONA, Calif. — Harold Glenn Foshee, 68, passed away March 14, 2017.

George Potts

George Doscher Potts, 87, of Apison, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 21, 2017, in Houston, Texas, where he resided in memory care.

He was predecease­d by his his wife, Verdenia W. Potts; son, Stephen L. Potts; and grandchild­ren, Stephanie and Jeremy.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his children, Kim (John) Joyce, of Oilville, Va., Becky (Marty) Cohen, of Houston, Texas, David (Lyn) Potts, of Goochland, Va.; and grandchild­ren, Stephen and Johnny, extended family members and friends.

Mr. Potts lived in Apison, Tenn., until his retirement from DuPont. His home became Brownsvill­e, Texas after retirement. He was a member of Apison United Methodist Church and served our country proudly as a U.S. Army and Navy veteran.

Family will receive friends at noon on April 8, 2017, at Apison United Methodist Church, followed by a 1 p.m. memorial service and reception.

A private family committal follows at Plowman’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be sent to Apison United Methodist Church, 4412 Bill Jones Road, Apison, Tenn., 37302.
