Night To Remember honors The Impressions
Fred Cash and Sam Gooden will be honored and perform at the gala.
One of Chattanooga’s longest-held fundraisers, A Night To Remember, will mark its 30th anniversary in grand style on Saturday, April 8, at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
Fred Cash and Sam Gooden, members of The Impressions, who live in Chattanooga, will be honored at the gala. The members of the hit R&B group will also perform, which organizers say will be The Impressions’ last performance in Chattanooga.
“The Impressions announced earlier this year they are retiring, so we want to honor them for their career,” says Paula Wilkes, A Night To Remember chairwoman.
“We will have a presentation, and the county and city will recognize them with proclamations that night. They will perform before intermission, and afterward Eddie Levert, lead singer of the O’Jays, will perform. Both acts are Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members, and Eddie Levert is Grammy nominated,” she says.
Although A Night To Remember is not a dinner-dance event, Wilkes says food will be available for purchase from the convention center and that it’s not unusual at all for guests to get up around their tables to dance. Preferred attire for the event is business or cocktail attire.
It is tradition that proceeds raised at A Night To Remember benefit educational enrichment programs for local youth. Wilkes says money raised this year will help fund STEAM education in grades K-12.
Tickets will be sold right up until showtime as long as they remain, she
says. But for better seating, concertgoers should purchase tickets in advance. Call 423-266-8658.
