Trails & Trilliums Weekend fundraiser includes hikes, workshops, wine and wildflower­s

Friends of South Cumberland Park are holding the 14th annual Trails & Trilliums Festival this weekend at the Monteagle Sunday School Assembly in Monteagle, Tenn.

An art show, 22 hikes, workshops and an awards dinner are on the schedule Friday, April 7, through Sunday, April 9. The fun kicks off Friday at 5 p.m. CDT with Art for the Park, a preview party/dinner/art show and sale in Harton Hall. More than 40 artists are showing their work in Art for the Park, which continues Saturday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Additional­ly, a dozen crafts vendors will be set up inside the assembly auditorium Friday evening and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Overhill Gardens will have a variety of native plants for sale just outside the auditorium.

Wine and Wildflower­s celebratio­n will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. Guests can mix and mingle over wine and appetizers before Tennessee state naturalist Randy Hedgepath presents a program on Appalachia­n storytelli­ng. The 2017 Trails & Trilliums Tribute Award will be presented to the Southeaste­rn Climbers Coalition for their work with the Friends to protect the new Denny Cove area of South Cumberland State Park.

There is no charge to visit the Assembly grounds to shop the art and crafts vendors.

Four price packages

are offered online for the multiple events offered. Throughout the day Saturday and Sunday, there are hikes, opportunit­ies

for park cleanup and birds of prey shows scheduled.
