Man charged with child rape

A 19-year-old Chattanooga man was arrested Monday for allegedly raping a 9-year-old girl in front of her younger brothers.

Diego Tomas-Tomas admitted to police he raped the girl and stated he knew it was wrong, according to arrest records.

Authorities were first alerted to the crime when someone used the Department of Child Services abuse hotline and a medical exam and forensic interview were organized at the Children’s Advocacy Center for the victim.

Tomas is next scheduled to appear before General Sessions Court Judge Christine Sell on May 1.
