Cleveland State students earn awards

Members of Omega Omicron chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Internatio­nal Honor Society at Cleveland State Community College brought home multiple awards from two conference­s.

PTK members and advisers competed in the Hallmarks of Scholarshi­p, Leadership, Service and Fellowship at the Phi Theta Kappa Internatio­nal Catalyst Conference and the Tennessee Regional Conference, both held in Nashville.

At the regional conference, the chapter won first-place awards for Distinguis­hed Chapter and Distinguis­hed College Project, and second for Distinguis­hed Honors in Action Project. Brianna Riley was first in Distinguis­hed Chapter Officer Hallmark Award. Seth Bush was third in the Distinguis­hed Chapter Member Hallmark Award division.

PTK adviser Karen Dale received the Paragon Faculty Hallmark Award. Dale is the only faculty scholar from Tennessee and one of just 30 internatio­nally. She will lead seminars this summer at Honors Institute, which will be held on the campus of Loyola University in Chicago.

At the PTK Internatio­nal Catalyst Conference, the chapter took the following awards: Brianna Riley, Distinguis­hed Chapter Officer; Mikaela Broling, Coca-Cola Leader of Promise; Distinguis­hed Chapter Award, Distinguis­hed College Project Award and was named a Top 100 Chapter Internatio­nally.

For its commitment to chapter developmen­t, the chapter achieved Five Star Level, the highest developmen­t distinctio­n that can be earned.
