Cronk, Newmyer join Erlanger surgery unit
Erlanger Health System is expanding its Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center with the addition of Daniel Robert Cronk Jr., MD, FACS, FASMBS and Rachel Newmyer, RN, BLS.
Dr. Cronk received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. After completing his general surgery internship and residency at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash., he served as a general and bariatric surgeon in the United States Army.
Dr. Cronk has performed more than 750 bariatric stapling procedures. His clinical areas of expertise are bariatric laparoscopic surgery and adolescent bariatric surgery. He specializes in laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and has experience with the management of duodenal switch and intragastric balloon placements surgeries. Prior to joining Erlanger, Dr. Cronk was the primary bariatric surgeon with the Methodist Bariatric Surgery Center in Omaha, Neb.
Newmyer, who previously served as a surgical clinician and coordinator with the Surgical Weight Management Program at CHI Memorial, will serve as the center’s nurse navigator, where she will help guide patients through a continuum of care.
