Improve Act is corporate swag

Gov. Haslam is finally having fun — at taxpayers’ expense. His secret: He learned how to communicate with his “tax cuts for the rich” Republican state legislators. With the Improve Act, Tennessee is No. 1 in the country in corporate giveaways, incentives and tax cuts.

The governor and legislature give Fortune 500 businesses our taxpayer dollars to come here whether they bring good-paying jobs for Tennesseans or not.

They claim corporate giveaways stimulate growth. Then they have the gall to eliminate the Hall Tax and increase the gas tax — you know who pays that.

Is this robbing of Citizen Peter to pay Corporate Paul ever going to stop? It will if you vote them out next year. Otherwise, get ready to start paying for their private schools and their quality health care. When they brag about shrinking the government, keep a tight grip on your wallet, because they never shrink the bad parts. David Clark Tullahoma, Tenn.
