New menu to the

Following a recent rainstorm, the water level of Chickamuga Lake was higher than normal. Perched high on the hillside, overlooking the whitecaps on the water, Aris’ Harbor Light was also exceeding expectations.

With a trio of new menu items, the lakefront restaurant boasts more ways than ever to refresh this summer.

“Got a little Philly cheesesteak here,” said owner Aris Sklavenitis, as he placed a sandwich — which could hardly be described as little — onto the table before me.

The Philly cheesesteak, served on a hoagie roll and smothered with grilled onions and white cheese, represents just one of the new meals now available at Aris’. For those desiring a more decadent dinner, I predict the new lobster-filled Gocce pasta will soon be a best-seller.

Gocce, I learned, is Italian for “drops,” and refers to the pasta’s teardrop shape. The dish is a lighter, fresher, more modern take on classic ravioli.

Aris’ menu also features a new appetizer, “cowboy corn,” consisting of crisp and savory morsels of deepfried creamed corn.

The versatility showcased in the restaurant’s new dishes is reflected throughout Aris’ lunch and dinner menu, which includes Greek and Italian specialties, rib-eye steaks, fresh oysters on the half shell, soups, salads, and sandwiches.

Furthermore, every Sunday, Aris hosts a brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All-you-can-eat options include scrambled eggs, hash browns, grits, sausage and ham. Aris’ full bar features mimosas and bloody marys.

While the Chickamauga Lake’s water level is always fluctuating, you can always rely on Aris’ versatile and hearty menu.
