Hamm plays Cleveland coffeehous­e Saturday

Songwriter Regie Hamm will perform at Inman Street Coffeehous­e, 437 Inman St., in Cleveland, Tenn., on Saturday, July 15, as part of his Pass the Hat tour. The free show starts at 8 p.m.

A songwriter, artist and producer, Hamm has penned more than 20 No. 1 hits, many of them in Christian music. His song “Time Of My Life,” sung by 2008 “American Idol” winner David Cook, stayed at No. 1 on the pop charts for four months. It became the longest-running No. 1 pop song by a Nashville-based songwriter in history — even topping Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” by one week.

He watched his life and career spin out of control and overcame enormous obstacles on a journey that tested his family’s physical resources, their faith and their sanity. He chronicled that story in his book “Angels & Idols,” which has been optioned for a Hollywood film.
