Savor end-of-summer specials at Fuji
The interior of Fuji Steak and Sushi resounded with the clank of knives and the combustion of flames, followed by the gasp of delighted diners.
But Fuji is not all pomp. From my seat at the bar, behind a wall of glittering liquor bottles, I watched the silhouettes of sushi chefs silently work to craft one-ofa-kind sushi rolls. The subtle, briny scent of fish fillets made my mouth water. Best of all, I reminded myself, it was Monday, and that meant I could double my sushi indulgence.
For a limited time, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday Fuji is offering any of its sushi rolls for 50 percent off the regular price — and the deals don’t end there. It is also August, and that means you can double your indulgence at the bar, too. For the remainder of the month, all day, every day Fuji is offering two glasses of its house wine or Champagne for the price of one, and its large bottles of sake for half price.
As the sushi chefs continued their deft work beyond the glass bottles, I checked the time. It was noon, and that meant three more hours until Fuji released its next round of drinkable deals during its daily happy hour from 3-7 p.m. Then, Fuji offers $2 select pints of beer, $3 glasses of well drinks and $1 off bottled beers, among other deals.
With that round of specials, I knew that surely the bar would become more crowded, perhaps quieting the clank of knives and the combustion of flames. But for the moment, I relished the delicious sounds all around me.
