‘Anne of Green Gables, The Musical’

Beloved children’s story opens at The Colonnade

- STAFF REPORT

More than a century after L.M. Montgomery wrote “Anne of Green Gables” in 1908, the children’s story is still beloved by audiences. It’s been translated into 36 languages, adapted to films, plays, live-action television and a musical.

Storyteller Productions will present “Anne of Green Gables, the Musical,” Sept. 8-16 at The Colonnade, 264 Catoosa Circle, in Ringgold, Ga.

With a book by Donald Harron and music by Norman Campbell, this classic tale of an orphan girl, Anne, who rises from destitution to happiness in the farm country entirely by her pluck and personality is faithfully retold.

Stern Marilla and her warm hearted brother, Matthew, hope to adopt a boy to work on their farm, Green Gables. But the orphanage sends young, freckled Anne by mistake. Her warmth and wit affects everyone around her — eventually even cold Marilla. Anne’s adventures at Green Gables are comical and heartwarming.

School shows will be held Friday, Sept. 15, at 9 and 11:30 a.m. Anyone interested in bringing students to a school performance should call 706933-9000.
