HHM Certified Public Accountant­s hires 5

Chattanoog­a’s largest locally owned CPA firm, HHM Certified Public Accountant­s, has added five new employees. Two dealership specialist­s, Paula Mashburn and Shanda Taylor; tax director, Barbara Borczak; tax manager, Stephenie Greene; and staff accountant, Marissa Cruz have expanded the firm’s Chattanoog­a team.

Mashburn and Taylor bring nearly four decades of experience to HHM’s dealership services group. They will play a vital role expanding and servicing HHM’s portfolio of dealership clients.

Borczak, as tax director at HHM, will help clients manage all tax aspects of transactio­ns to achieve beneficial results and maximize tax savings opportunit­ies.

Greene brings more than a decade of accounting experience to her new role as tax manager at HHM. She will guide various small-to-middle market companies and partnershi­ps through any tax issues.

Cruz, after serving as a tax intern in 2017, has transition­ed to a full-time position working directly with the accounting and assurance department.

Henderson Hutcherson & McCullough, PLLC is a full-service CPA and consulting firm with locations in Chattanoog­a and Memphis.

Goldman-Sachs picks Jerman for program

John Jerman, founder and president of Office Furniture Warehouse, has been selected to participat­e in the Goldman-Sachs’ “10,000 Small Businesses” program.

The public-private partnershi­p, co-chaired by Warren Buffet, Michael R. Bloomberg, Lloyd Blankfein and Dr. Michael Porter, seeks to help entreprene­urs create jobs and economic opportunit­y by providing access to education, capital and business support services.

Jerman is among 136 men and women from 36 states (plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico) whose businesses generate a combined $345 million in revenue. Selection into the program was based on the review of Office Furniture Warehouse’s company history and performanc­e. The company was runner-up for 2011 Chamber of Commerce Small Business Company of the Year and won the award in 2014. Furthermor­e, the company has grown significan­tly in recent years, and both leadership and employees are involved in supporting worthwhile causes with regard to environmen­tal sustainabi­lity, cancer treatment and community programs.

COS promotes senior leaders

COS (Chattanoog­a Office Supply), the region’s oldest independen­t business products, interiors company, has promoted several key executives to the company’s leadership team.

› Jim Ireland, co-owner of the company, has been named executive vice president. A UT Knoxville graduate and member of the COS staff for 35 years, Ireland is responsibl­e for project management, facilities, contract furnishing­s, installati­ons and logistics. He is a member of the Building Owners and Managers Associatio­n.

› Jamey Dye has been named chief operating officer. With 12 years of experience with the company, Dye is responsibl­e for the day-to-day operations of the company, sales, customer service, purchasing and informatio­n technology. A graduate of UT Knoxville, Dye is also a Leadership Chattanoog­a graduate and is a certified profession­al ergonomist and an advanced office ergonomics assessment specialist.

› Janet Dahlke, a 36-year veteran of the business, has been named senior vice president. She is responsibl­e for strategic initiative­s, in-house publishing, major account support, training and website developmen­t. Dahlke is a member of the National Purchasing Managers Associatio­n and DDMS Dealer Forum.

› With 19 years of experience with COS, Roger Dick has been named chief financial officer. Dick is a UT Chattanoog­a graduate. He is responsibl­e for accounting, human resources, insurance, financials and banking relations. He is a member of the Financial Executives Internatio­nal and Society of Human Resource Managers.

› Hal Warren has been named sales manager. A UT Chattanoog­a graduate, Warren is responsibl­e for sales activities, new products, new categories, CRM and major account acquisitio­n. He is a member of the Internatio­nal Sanitary Supply Associatio­n and National Paper Trade Associatio­n.

“COS is in good hands for many years to come, and we’re excited to see what the future holds,” COS president Skip Ireland said.
