› EPB is conducting a Solar Share Open House from 9 to 11 a.m. today at EPB’s Hixson branch, 2124 Northpoint Blvd., to answer questions about participat­ing in community solar.

The city-owned utility will have energy experts on hand to answer questions about signing up for the solar array EPB has erected along Holtzclaw Avenue in Chattanoog­a. EPB spokesman John Pless said today’s event will also offer participan­ts “a spectacula­r, close-up view of the sun with the Barnard Astronomic­al Society’s high-tech “sunscope.” EPB’s Professor Gig-AWatt and the mischievou­s Energy Hog will also be on hand to learn about smart energy use.

EPB spokesman John Pless said so far the utility has sold 1,671 panels, or about 38 percent of the 4,408 available Solar Share panels.

› Barna researcher to talk on generosity, faith, culture: Brooke Hempell, senior vice president for the Barna Group overseeing research on faith and culture, will share insights on recent studies and trends during a special presentati­on on Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Brainerd Baptist Church, 300 Brookfield Ave., in Chattanoog­a.

Hempell will discuss new studies on patterns in generosity and the spiritual climate of Chattanoog­a, which holds claim to being the most “Bible-minded” market in America as well as the most evangelica­l.
