Three, free musical performanc­es are offered at area universiti­es in the coming week.

UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE AT CHATTANOOG­A

› Who: Faculty recital featuring Clint Schmitt, saxophone, and David Walters, piano. ›

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6. ›

Where: Fine Arts

Center, 752 Vine St. ›

The program: The concert will include music by American composers Paul Creston, John Harbison, Robert Muczynski and George Gershwin’s “Three Preludes.”

SOUTHERN ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY

› Who: SAU Wind Symphony. › When: 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8. ›

Where: Collegedal­e Church of Seventh-day Adventists, 4829 College Drive. ›

The program: Ken Parsons conducts the wind symphony in a concert with the theme “Fortress Facets: A Quincenten­nial Celebratio­n of the Protestant Reformatio­n” with works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Doppler, Warren Benson, Eric Peel and more. Several pieces are based on Martin Luther’s “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.”

Who: Lee Wind Ensemble. ›

When: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10. › Where: Conn Center, 150 11th St., Cleveland, Tenn. ›

The program: Dr. David R. Holsinger, professor of music, directs the ensemble in traditiona­l band literature for winds and percussion.
