Keeping it fresh
Two men work Tuesday to put a new vent cap on a 250,000-gallon water holding tank for the Town of Signal Mountain Public Utility in the 1200 block of Suck Creek Road. The work is part of a five-year update to keep the utility’s water fresh, according to 10-year foreman of water Willis Sanders. “We’re sandblasting the insides and making sure birds and bugs don’t get into the supply,” Sanders said. The sand-pumping equipment can be seen in the foreground. “We have over a million gallons of storage to serve our customers atop the mountain.”
