Eastern Kentucky runs past UT Martin, 31-21

RICHMOND, Ky. — Daryl McCleskey Jr. ran for 137 yards and two touchdowns and Eastern Kentucky used three third-quarter touchdowns to knock off UT-Martin 31-21 in Ohio Valley Conference football Saturday.

The victory for EKU (2-5, 2-3) was the 24th in 28 meetings against UT-Martin (3-4, 1-3), which went 10 quarters without a touchdown before Dresser Winn hit Jaylon Moore with a 67-yard scoring pass in the second quarter.

Ladarius Galloway entered the game with 114 carries for 629 yards and four touchdowns, but the Colonels held him to 41 yards on 13 carries. Overall, the Skyhawks had 38 rushing yards on 25 carries and managed just 254 total yards.

› Austin Peay 38, SE Missouri St. 31 CLARKESVIL­LE, Tenn. — Jeremiah Oatsvall threw for 199 yards and two scores and Kentel Williams ran for 148 yards and a score and Austin Peay held off Southeast Missouri State.

Oatsvall threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Daryl Rollins-Davis to put the Governors up 7-0. Southeast Missouri State responded with an 11-play, 69-yard drive that ended with a 1-yard touchdown run by Jesse Hosket to tie it.

Austin Peay (5-3, 4-1 Ohio Valley) took the lead for good on the following drive when Williams rambled 74 yards for a touchdown. Williams — who only had eight carries — ran four times for 142 yards in the first half alone.

Austin Peay outgained the Redhawks in yardage 524-406.

Jesse Hosket had late touchdown passes to Eric Williams for 16 yards and Richie Eisenhart for 29 yards to make the score respectabl­e. Hosket threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns.

› Trinity 27, Sewanee 21 SEWANEE, Tenn. — In a matchup of Tigers in the Southern Athletic Associatio­n, the Texas team led 27-0 before Sewanee (3-5, 2-4) mounted a rally starting late in the third quarter.

Sam Hearn threw touchdown passes of 22 yards to Steven Hearn, 18 to Cyrus McCullough and 68 to Calid Shorter to get the host Tigers within six points of Trinity (5-2, 4-1) with 9:46 left to play. The teams then swapped three-and-outs before Trinity held possession for the last 5:54.

Quarterbac­k Hearn was 20-for-39 for 243 passing yards, and McCullough caught six passes for 79 yards. For Sewanee’s defense, Conoly Koontz totaled 16 tackles with eight solos and two for lost yardage, John Cleveland had 10 solo stops, three assists and two intercepti­ons and Karim Antoine had six tackles with two sacks.
