Foundation donates $1 million to Believe campaign

- STAFF REPORT

The Frank P. Pierce Foundation recently presented a check for $1 million to the Believe campaign to help build the new Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.

The donation was made in Pierce’s honor. He served as mayor of the city of Chickamauga, Ga., for 24 years.

“Mr. Pierce cared deeply about his employees and his community. I’m pleased we can present this gift to the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger in his honor,” said R. Wayne Peters, director and officer of the Frank P. Pierce Foundation and managing member at Gearhiser, Peters, Elliott & Cannon law firm.

“It is an exceptional opportunity to give to an organization that will serve the children and families of greater Chattanooga and Northwest Georgia, including many families and descendants of past employees who worked for Mr. Pierce.

“Being with Mr. Pierce daily over a 20-year period, I witnessed many times his compassion for those who could not help themselves,” said Steve Tarvin, director and president of the Frank P. Pierce Foundation. “There could not be a more fitting beneficiary of the Frank P. Pierce Foundation than the children’s hospital serving the tri-state area.”
