Mellow menu introduces new items

Clark Griswold famously said, “If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn’t be more surprised.”

But here are some things that shouldn’t surprise you: Mellow Mushroom recently elevated its menu to include a number of new apps, entrees and cocktails. One example is the pesto garlic cheese bread, which features French bread topped with pesto sauce and melted mozzarella, served with a side of red sauce. Another is the “Pacific Rim” specialty pie, made with mozzarella, ham, bacon, caramelize­d onions, pineapple and jalapenos.

Need more meat? You may try the new “Sausagefes­t” calzone, stuffed with meatballs, sausage, salami, mozzarella, provolone and seasoned ricotta. Or, another carnivore-lover’s dream, the “Ritz” burger, is made with eight juicy ounces of 100-percent all-natural black Angus beef, USDA-certified from family owned and operated Harris Ranch. It is topped with Swiss, caramelize­d onions, garlic aioli, romaine lettuce and sliced tomato, and served on grilled brioche bun.

Whatever you order, try washing it all down with one of Mellow’s two new cocktails: the “Blue Moon Rising” beer cocktail, or the “Hendrick’s Refresher” gin cocktail.

And be sure to stay tuned; Mellow Mushroom is gearing up for its second annual National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation trivia, scheduled at its downtown location on November 26.

“Get your best Clark Griswold impression and get your Cousin Eddie dickie ready, because trivia master Eddie Bridges is going to test your knowledge of everyone’s favorite holiday comedy,” said LJ Knight, Mellow’s director of operations.
