GEORGIA BULLDOGS

-

QUARTERBACKS

Jake Fromm attemped just seven passes, but one was a 39-yard completion on the Bulldogs’ first possession and another was a 17-yard touchdown on their second drive. Fromm does need to really, really throw a ball away.

RUNNING BACKS

Sony Michel had a nice 22.8-yard average with his six carries for 137 yards and two touchdowns, while Nick Chubb added 77 yards on 13 rushes. The Bulldogs ran for 292 yards and averaged 8.3 per carry.

RECEIVERS

Javon Wims had the only catch among receivers, providing an acrobatic 17-yard score. Freshman tailback D’Andre Swift continued to show his versatility with three receptions for 84 yards.

OFFENSIVE LINE

Coach Kirby Smart talks about staying committed to the run when things aren’t working early, but Georgia erupted quickly by rushing for 132 yards in the first quarter. Georgia averaged 9.4 yards per play.

DEFENSIVE LINE

Lost in the blowout was the fact Florida did rush for 183 yards and 4.5 yards per carry, but Feleipe Franks was a sitting duck in the pocket. Tyler Clark had four tackles, while Julian Rochester had a sack.

LINEBACKERS

Lorenzo Carter had a career-high nine tackles and a sack, while Roquan Smith had eight tackles and a forced fumble. Reggie Carter returned from an injury and made four tackles, including a lost-yardage stop.

DEFENSIVE BACKS

The Gators managed just 66 passing yards and lost 46 yards on five sacks. The highlight sack involved Tyrique McGhee and J.R. Reed, with McGhee causing a fumble Reed returned 3 yards for a score.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Both teams put on a punting show, with Cameron Nizialek averaging 46.5 yards for the Bulldogs and Johnny Townsend averaging 54.4 for the Gators. Mecole Hardman had a 15-yard punt return for Georgia.

COACHING

Think things are going well for Smart? His Bulldogs are 8-0 and ranked No. 2, while Florida has ousted coach Jim McElwain and a majority of Tennessee fans are wishing the same fate for Butch Jones.
