How an Instagram influencer stays in shape on the road

- BY VICTORIA HOFF

As you’ve likely garnered from your Instagram feed, one of the more covetable perks of being a digital influencer is the opportunity to travel the world. But as designer and IG style queen Pam Allier has learned, spending so much time in planes and hotel rooms can put a wrinkle in maintaining a consistent fitness routine.

“Keeping my healthy lifestyle during my working trips has always been a challenge,” Allier said. “At first, I went to my trips with the vacation mindset in terms of exercise, but as it has became part of my lifestyle.”

Now that she has her routine down to a science, we asked Allier to share her key pointers for staying active on the go. DON’T OVERPACK Save yourself the headache of checking a bag and skip the dumbbells, resistance bands, et al. — just the essentials will do. “(I stick with) running shoes, two active-wear shirts and leggings,” Allier said. You can stick with running or walking as your cardio and bodyweight exercises for strength training.

VENTURE OUTSIDE YOUR HOTEL ROOM IF YOU CAN

Allier likes to take advantage of local studios — or even the hotel gym. “I like to go to the gym, so if there’s a nice studio or gym, I’ll always hit it for 50 minutes at least before heading out to dinner,” she said.

TURN YOUR WORKOUT INTO A SIGHTSEEING OPPORTUNITY (AND VICE VERSA)

Going for a run or brisk walk is a great way to explore your surroundings. “Running throughout any city will always give you an insider view of the town you’re visiting — amazing views, cool parks, and that local feeling,” Allier said. If she’s still feeling energized, she’ll finish her workout off with some crunches and squats in her hotel room.
